  1. I think the production quality is fairly good for basketball. This game is one of 10 basketball games that was picked up by a local Utah channel after Fox / CBSSports made their selections. The MWC Network will simulcast/stream that local TV broadcast so at least there will be actual court side announcers and not just an audio feed of our radio play-by-play paired with a video feed as has been the case in some years past. One of those announcers is former Aggie and WAC POY Gary Wilkinson (for those of you that may remember the name). Now our MWC Network streams for football on the other hand.....
  2. Not sure where those rankings are coming from. SDSU is #22, but the rest are incorrect. The following are the current NET OOC SOS for each team in the MWC with the number of OOC Q1/Q2 games played in parenthesis: (can click here and view each team individually) SDSU - 22 (6 games) CSU - 92 (6 games) BSU - 132 (7 games) UNR - 134 (3 games) WYO - 172 (2 games) Fresno St - 185 (4 games) SJSU - 190 (2 games) USU - 197 (5 games) UNM - 221 (3 games) UNLV - 299 (2 games) AFA -363 (1 game) Point is still taken. SDSU's road games at BYU, Grand Canyon, and Gonzaga have really boosted their OOC SOS. That type of schedule should probably be expected from the national runner-up.
  3. He rocketed to my top 5 last season and has picked up exactly where he left off this season. He plays so out of control it is almost cartoon-like. He never shows a single shred of bball IQ. Everyone in the arena knew he was going to commit that 4th foul with the demonstrative body language and frustration that just pours out of him. Sure enough, when the foul came, he continued with his crying to his own staff trying to wave them off and beg to stay in the game as if he could manage his emotions the rest of the way. If he didn't get removed, he would have lasted until the next missed shot or turnover or whatever trigger sets him off (there seems to be many). I came away from this game still not knowing what to think of either team. This is the second time I have watched both and CSU just seems like a steady unit that is lead by a super reliable and experienced PG in Stevens but outside of what Isaiah does very well, there isn't an offensive or defensive superstar. Several players seem capable on any given night to be the dude. Actually very similar to USU this year. As for UNM, I would be very excited about Toppin and Dent but I'm not sure how you satisfy the PT of upperclassmen in Mash, Baker, and House when there may be better options, or at least options that work better for the team. I was also a little shocked at how little paint presence and post play both teams seemed to have. Lots of dribbling, driving, slashing to the hoop, with the occasional kick out for 3. I agree with the comment earlier that neither one of these teams seems to have an answer for a dominant post player. A guy like Queta or even Roddie would have been unstoppable in this game....a guy like LeDee looms large.
  4. No, no.... shhhhhhh USU is slated to finish 9th - so let it be written.
  5. 48 in the break away is far too many. There are so many schools listed in that group that would never have a chance at winning a title. They are the same teams that the others want to leave behind too. Illinois, Va Tech, Rutgers, Pitt, Duke, Kansas, BYU, Colorado, Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota? These are not teams that would be among the "haves". Hell, if it weren't for nostalgia - a team like Nebraska shouldn't be in either.
  6. Wait...this is real? I seriously thought the OP was trolling with a Photoshop job.
  7. I said in October to bookmark this preseason poll thread: At some point you would think it is just asinine to vote USU to finish 9th in the conference in basketball. Is it laziness? jealousy? We don't need to rehash the points already made in that thread but suffice to say, yes it is a program thing.....just as it is with SDSU. Last time I checked Viejas and The Spectrum aren't going anywhere. The culture and support aren't going anywhere. They are successful programs because good coaches want to have that kind of support and players want to play in those type of environments.
  8. I think most Aggie fans are happy to see Utah back on the schedule in a day and age where rivalries seem to be increasingly a thing of the past. When the series stopped being played on a annual basis in 2009, it was the 12th most played game in all of college football (basically every year from 1892 to 2009). Yes, we played in 2012 in Logan (Chuckie Keeton & Co. won in OT 27-20). We have since played in SLC in 2013 (26-30 Utah) and again in SLC in 2015 (14-24 Utah). Of the 112 times these two have played, 76 of them have been in SLC. I also think most Aggie fans are not too happy about a 2 for 1 arrangement and would be fine with not playing at all, as it has been for nearly a decade, rather than resume an uneven series arrangement. Same goes for BYU. Every AD we have had has said 1 for 1 or nothing at all until this new AD. Perhaps she negotiated one of the away games as an OOC money game but it still doesn't bode well for USU when Utah is perfectly happy giving 1 for 1's to programs like SJSU and WYO and No. Illinois.
  9. Are you hearing anything on the Utah side about specifics of this deal beyond the generic press release? I find it odd that Utah has agreed to a home and home with other MWC teams but then does everything in their power to make the optics appear as though it is a true 2 for 1 deal when it comes to USU. I find it hard to believe the 2031 game will ever be played Rumors are that Utah is paying USU $600k for at least 1 of the away games and maybe both If USU doesn't make some drastic changes to their OL and DL in the off-season, next year's game will be ugly
  10. It's not. I explained in another thread why BSU's NET was where it was and said to expect them to jump once they can put a beating on some Q3 and Q4 teams. Here's that thread: It really comes down to outperforming spreads and expectations to the point that offensive and defensive efficiency numbers are boosted which factors into the NET rating. No one has completely reverse engineered the NET but as many of you know Aggie fans own and operate https://bracketologists.com/ which charts these changes from game to game so we have been following the charts and observing the trends of what kind of results affect a team's rating since the NET was adopted.
  11. Nevada and New Mexico? LOL. The top 5 "premier" (term used loosley) football programs under current membership are as follows in order of Win% & number of Bowl appearances: BSU. SDSU, AFA/USU, Fresno St. It's a pretty steep drop off after that by the numbers. Of those five, only one did not get a home game with a PAC2 (USU) - which is surprising to no one. I did notice the incredible cake walk of a schedule that Fresno St. was handed however. Not only do they avoid BSU, SDSU, and USU but they get their PAC2 game at home vs. WSU.
  12. Lunardi is so wildly inaccurate it isn't even worth looking at, especially this early in the season. He doesn't actually make any predictions or projections - he just plugs in records based on conference affiliation and calls it "bracketology".
  13. Except USF is now the second best team in the WCC and I don't see them moving from there anytime soon from what I've seen of the rest of that conference.
  14. I had noticed that too. What it comes down to is the NET is very influenced by offensive and defensive efficiency numbers, not solely wins and losses. While margin of victory is supposedly capped at 10 points before there is no more benefit, it does help offensive and defensive efficiency numbers to run up the score or win by a lot anyway. In BSU's case, their wins in games that count toward the NET have been by 5, 4, 3, and 5 points respectively. Their only wins by a decent margin are the the non D1 games which do not factor into the NET. Conversely, BSU's losses have been by 17, 7, and 14 which hurts. Barely winning and losing big are what is weighing the most on BSU's current NET. Four of the next five games for BSU are against Q3 and Q4 teams.....hopefully they can win by some larger margins in those games and climb up in the NET.
  15. Interesting tidbit. The bowl will also determine if Bohl will ever have a season in WYO with more than 8 wins.
  16. Rumors swirling that there were multiple shooters and 1 has now barricaded himself in a hotel adjacent to campus. It is interesting that the police have said they found one shooter deceased - as if they are saying there may be multiple.
  17. ? that would be the NMSU Raggies....USU would be the Baggies.
  18. ....and no one knows why. Spencer Petras is a 6'-5" 231lb. former 2-year starter at Iowa (has 31 career starts) but it highly doubtful he could win the starting job in Logan and doesn't really fit the mold of our offense. He is basically the body type replacement for Levi Williams who is moving on to pursue being a Navy Seal. My guess is he will be 3rd string if Legas returns -sort of an odd way to end your college career. He probably could have been a starter at a lower G5 or FCS program so....?
  19. I'm not sure coach Anderson has that luxury at Utah St. In his opinion he can't pick and choose or give special treatment to particular players over others, he has to have one rule that governs all and make it be known. He has had players try to talk their way back on after entering the portal but he sees that as a can of worms he doesn't want to open. The only exception to this was his first year when he actively went to re-recruit Aggie players that had entered the portal before his arrival. He was able to convince some to recommit like Deven Thompkins but was not able to convince others like Jaylen Warren.
  20. This is standard practice at USU too. Coach Anderson has said any player that enters the portal is done at USU - it is not an option to post something like Green did.
  21. BigXII, BIG10, SEC, and MWC only conferences with 5 or more teams in the top 40. Pretty nice start.
  22. Maybe if you're drunk and seeing double or triple.
  23. Akron is pretty good and surprisingly athletic across the board. Freeman is a load in the paint and Dawson and Tribble are capable of putting up a lot of points too. This was the closest game USU had in the Cayman Island Classic last week and I don't think we pull it out if we did not have an equally formidable big man to contend with Freeman.
  24. Because the money was generated, in large part, by the 10 departing and therefore they should each have a right to their fair share despite not having a technical vote on the board anymore. Also, if OSU/WSU want to play that game where they state they own it all - should they not then also own all the PAC-12 debt and the pending media lawsuits coming against the conference too? Haha...yeah, and Elon Musk would be better off financially if he would have ordered the combo meal instead of ordering each item individually. Does anyone think they give a rip about this? They were desperate to not be in the shoes that OSU/WSU find themselves and they have enough F-U money to not care what the cost was to find a way out.
