good job with the reflection in the last pic.  I like that it's not perfect like a mirror, but kind of off instead.  That's a really good picture.  If you edit it and lighten it it might look cool because the trees would become more visible, but I'm not sure if that would ruin the cool, kind of hazy look in the reflection.  It's always tradeoffs, I'd have to see to know.

Thanks. I took the whole "reel" of photos these were from whilist extremely, god-level inebriated, so it's cool to see that some of them actually worked out. I took about 150ish pics that night...some of them wound up pretty good...others were definitely the product of said unholy inebriation. That said, I like your idea with the lighting on that last pic, and I may try to +++++ around with the lighting on it, but I may leave it as is too. Something to look into either way, I suppose.

Yep you’re right. Just googled it, not quite as similar as I remember. Last time I was there Jerry Garcia had passed away, mid/late 90’s I wanna say. My aunt has a rent controlled apartment in the marina behind Safeway on Bay St, lived there since 1984. Just a little studio but can’t beat the location.

Must've been 1995...and the collonades of both those places look sort of similar, so that could explain the similarity in your memories...also, where your aunt lives...that's a cool part of town. It really is an outstanding location.

Is that bottom pic close to the aquarium and science center thing? I think there’s an art museum close by too. I feel like I’ve seen that place in the daytime but maybe I’m remembering wrong.

No. I know where you're talking about though as they do sort of look similar....you're thinking of the Music Concourse or whatever they call that amphitheater in Golden Gate Park. The pic here is from the Palace of Fine Arts on the way into the Presidio late, late last night.

We got in late sunday, and came home thursday.  For beaches we did Samoa Beach, Patricks Point, and Trinidad.

We stayed at the casino in Loleta, which was fine.  My wife is good to go back, but would like to find a house to rent in Trinidad next time.  Lodging options are a little lean on The North Coast.

Ferndale is a cool little place btw.  Could have used some recommendations from you on restraunts.

Wedding rock is really cool at Paticks Point, that's it's like a castle built into the cliff..  They just built a skywalk at the zoo in Eureka too, that's a neat thing, especially for the kids.

Outstanding pics. Yeah, you hit a few of my favorite spots there. Patrick's Point is incredible and Trinidad is pretty outrageous. Lodging's a problem because all the AirBnBs and the like are filled with Bay Area people still riding out the pandemic. It's a cool spot though. Samoa Beach is awesome too. Lots of strange memories on that one.

I heard the skywalk was rad too. But I honestly haven't been to that zoo in probably over 15 years. And Ferndale is a bizarre little town...i still know the bartenders at that one dive on the main drag there.

Glad you had a good time. It's really an outrageous spot.

That area is where the Battle of Endor was filmed btw.

My brother is a good photographer, and a Japanophile (he lived there about 12 years all together). He once told me Kyoto is the most photogenic city he has ever seen.  That’s exactly how I felt about this place.  In some ways it had a Kauai feel. But more substantial and impressive, not sure how to put it in words.  If you haven’t been there before and get a chance, I think you would really enjoy it.  I fell in love with the place.

and thank you for the kind words.

How long were you up there for? Next time you go let me know and I'll point you toward some places. I'm glad you had a good time though. There's a reason I lived up there for years. The people are half crazy but the landscapes are insanely beautiful and serene. Did you check out any of the beaches?

Where is that at? Has a NorCal feel to it based on the hills and the 3rd pic but maybe I’m way off.

That's all SF. The first 3 are taken off the side of the USF campus, the 4th pic is looking toward Golden Gate Park in the Inner Sunset, and the last one is at the gates of Kezar Stadium.

I like the bathroom window one.

That's probably my favorite one too, honestly. I'm actually putting together a project right now in assembling a coffee table book that is all just pictures of bathrooms in SF. From the ritzy to the skid row-ish ones and much more in between. I've probably got around 30-40 different bathrooms photographed already.

What city are you living in now?  Is that the channel islands in the background in the surfing pic?  Are you still in SB?

    I like your pictures.

The fifth one with the lettering in the foreground and the flower in the background is a really neat picture.  It makes me wonder what I'm looking at.  What is the story on that one?

I've never done street photography of people, I'm curious what is peoples reaction to being photographed?

Hey thanks. I'm living in SF now so that's where the majority of these are from. That surfing pic is taken at Pacifica State Beach and that's Point Reyes/Marin in the background. It was an insanely clear day out there. I saw all the way out to the Farallones at one point later in the day a little further north too.

the one with the lettering is at the AIDS Memorial in Golden Gate Park, and as far as taking pictures of randos goes, that was a happy accident...I was trying to take a pic of something else (I forget what) and in a succession of clicks that came out of it. I haven't just walked up to people photographing them yet, but I'm sure it's hit or miss in that regard.

  9. I know there's a couple other photographers on here ( @CPslograd comes to mind). I just got back into doing it regularly and got a decent camera (Canon Rebel t7i) and have honestly gone hog wild the last couple weeks taking over 1200 photos while walking around town. Who else is into this? Let's see your shots.

here's a few of my latest ones.
