  1. Atiki didn't even dress for warmups and was seen limping. Probably wasn't available to play.
  2. Really missed an opportunity there: And the magician disappeared And the magician vanished And the magician did a disappearing act And I'm somewhat surprised that you didn't take issue with my list of teams worse than Duquesne.
  3. BYU did lose to several teams worse than Duquesne while playing away from home (Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Utah, etc.) so it's not that surprising that they dropped that game. On the other hand, they also had several games away from home in which they played pretty well, at Kansas being the prime example. Shooting the 3 better definitely would have given them a better chance at winning. That said, BYU's 3-point shooting wasn't really what killed them against Duquesne. It wasn't great - 33.3% - but not nearly as bad as it's been in some other losses. Traore, who I thought would be the leading scorer for BYU, and who for his career shoots over 60% from the field, was just 4 of 12. He missed all sorts of close shots that usually go in for him. Also, the defense just wasn't good enough.
  4. I don't follow BYU's CC or T&F teams particularly closely, but it seems like the Elite CC teams have a lot of crossover that have assisted in keeping the T&F teams consistently in/near the top 25.
  5. It is possible to have both strong cross country and track and field teams.
  6. I'm going to go way out on a limb and guess that you don't have much experience with mergers and acquisitions.
  7. If the conferences merge together, then - generally speaking - the rights and responsibilities associated with each conference flow into the new entity. I wouldn't expect the new merged conference to be allowed two auto bids.
  8. Google Maps says it's just a 39 minute drive from Coeur d'Alene to Spokane.
  9. If they merge the two conferences, then they should keep the credits from both conferences.
  10. Yip. I never really expected for him to stay for long, but it's still disappointing to see him leave already.
  11. Poor play offensively from the bigs, too many live-ball turnovers, and ineffective defense overall. I think Duquesne also out-coached BYU. They were very well-prepared, making BYU very uncomfortable on offense and exploiting advantages against BYU's team defense. The magic ran out for the Egyptian Khalifa, going 0-6 with two rebounds, one assist, and two turnovers in 16 minutes while fasting for Ramadan. Traore was uncharacteristicly inefficient, going 4-12. For his career, he averages over 60% from the field. Trevin Knell (though not a big) didn't play particularly well, either. As poorly as they played for much of the game, they still had a chance at the end, with the game tied with 1:30 to go. Of the teams remaining in the Sweet Sixteen, BYU has wins against three of them this season (San Diego State and Iowa State at home, NC State at a neutral court) and played almost well enough to win at home against another (Houston), being tied with two minutes left and within 1 point with a minute to play. Frustrating to play so poorly when it matters most.
  12. No need to brag here about your sex doll collection.
  13. Where is that money coming from? That's not all from NCAA tournament credits, is it?
  14. He didn't say they were on the bubble. He said they were a bid thief. If they hadn't won the MW tournament, they'd be in the NIT.
  15. Good for BYU since they beat NC State earlier this season. Probably doesn't drop Duke below BYU on the S-curve, though an argument could be made. Duke has a better Quad 1 record but a worse Quad 2 record. It could be argued that their Quad 1 wins are less impressive than BYU's: Duke's Quad 1 wins - #14 Baylor, #23 Michigan State, #45 Pittsburgh, #61 Virginia Tech, #73 NC State BYU's Quad 1 wins - #9 Iowa State, #14 Baylor, #19 Kansas, #20 San Diego State, #28 Texas, #60 UCF
  16. He was fasting for Ramadan, so that could have contributed to him looking gassed. Though, to be honest, he doesn't need to fast to look gassed. I haven't heard the extent of the injury so far. Hoping it's not too bad and that it won't hamper him in the NCAA tourney.
  17. There were definitely calls I disagreed with, but I think the game overall was officiated pretty well.
  18. One of the big problems was that they couldn't get stops on the defensive end. As such, getting 2 offensively would be immediately matched with 2 for Texas Tech at the other side of the court.
  19. Pretty clear why so many BYU games were slated for Big 12 Now on ESPN+. They were picked to finish 13th in the conference (out of 14). Generally speaking, teams expected to suck don't get a lot of air time on ESPN/ESPN2/etc. Or, if you prefer more of a homer view, BYU was on ESPN+ so much in order to drive ESPN+ subscriptions - kind of like how BYU was stuck playing on the mtn so often to drive Comcast subscriptions. He was one of the few bright spots offensively today. I don't think there were any defensive bright spots. Traore is a very skilled scorer down low, but his height (or lack thereof relative to many opponents) sometimes render him less effective. Tech was able to disrupt him early in the game, too, with double and triple teams that he couldn't pass out of quickly enough.
  20. I count 23 ESPN+ games for BYU during the men's basketball season.
