  1. Way too many whistles.
  2. CSU was dealing with the flu a few weeks ago. I stopped by a practice before the Wyoming game and 2 or 3 were out.
  3. Hope so. Other than Thomas, how much do those 5th year seniors care?
  4. A few years ago, I had courtside seats at a game Hall was officiating. Pregame I asked for a picture. I told him I wanted to send it to Tim Miles along with any message he wanted to relay to Miles. Hall said to tell him, “Oooh, Ahhhh, Ooooh”. And then he explained thats what Miles used to say to him when he thought Hall wasnt calling fouls on his opponent. Hall really is a good guy even though his courtside demeanor projects way different.
  5. Before I saw Osobor play live, i thought he was just another fat guy. In person I was impressed. Hes a lot more bouncy and agile than what shows on TV.
  6. Hes really slowed down. As a result, he’s been relegated to officiating most of his games in the Big Sky and Big West.
  7. I think they're a Last Four In heading to Dayton if they dont win today.
  8. Yep. As a 6-seed that beat seeds 3, 2, and 1 (BYU, WYO, UNLV)
  9. Credit to Sparty who came into the game off a bye and were well prepared. Combine that with the fact that they outworked CSU for most of the game. CSU eventually wore them down and finally put them away in the final minutes. The last three games against Wyoming, Air Force, and San Jose State were very difficult for the Rams. Mostly because they know what was at stake if they lost. And, unlike the rest of the league, those teams really get up for playing CSU because of the rivalries. IN SJSU’s case, the rivalry is between the coaches who are great friends that revel in beating each others brains in.
  10. It’s all about Survive and Advance once March rolls around. At least thats what Justin Hutson told me.
  11. Didn’t see that. Credit to Fresno for fighting to stay in it but WYO really melted down in the second half with some incredibly careless turnovers.
  12. I have no idea how they conjured up a loss today.
  13. Fresno has no chance if they dont figure out a way to defend Griffin and Kot on the perimeter.
  14. Pack has been playing the best over the last month. But with the strength of all the other teams, I would argue that things could change in a hurry.
  15. They are dropping like a rock but i dont think it has anything to do with being in the AAC. As others have pointed out, they had a great coach in Marshall and did a lousy job replacing him. The support there is falling off. The last three years of home attendance were averages of about 9000, 7000, and down to 6000 this season. Thats crazy low for a program that historically has had unbelievable community support.
  16. Both Osobor and Brown are worthy of any accolades. When they came to Fort Collins, Brown played his worst game of the year and, quite frankly, wasnt worthy of any award. Osobor, on the other hand, was much better than I expected.
  17. Lots of talent in the league this year made it pretty difficult. In the end, I think there were other players worthy of making one of the 3 teams but they were all third teamers. In the end, the only difference between my first team and the media was Lucas/Blackshear which I believed to be the only question. The other 4 were absolute no brainers. COY, POY, NCOY, DPOY, FOY were all legit but there were certainly close races for FOY and DPOY. As for 6th Man of the Year, the chalk picks were Amzil and Udeze. I got a little more creative on my podcast with my pick. I have a bias toward guys that bring energy and can really make an impact with a special play here or there. i liked Hunter McIntosh because the guy can absolutely turn a game with his shooting (right Boise?). But my pick was Miles Byrd of SDSU, who always seems to find a way to make a big 3, come out of nowhere to block a shot, or make a steal and go coast to coast for a dunk. And the advanced analytics (evanmiya.com) support that Byrd makes a difference when he’s on the court. His offensive and defensive efficiency numbers are both good and the difference between the two when he’s on the floor is 2nd highest in the MWC.
  18. Irvine is always a dangerous team come March. But their resume is nowhere near good enough to earn an at-large. 0-3 in Quad 1, 1-2 in Quad 2. Even a win over SDSU wouldnt have moved the needle enough to earn an at-large. They need to win the Big West Tourney. Which is kind of tough because they really do their best to schedule up in the non-con, unlike a lot of others.
  19. Sadly, UNLV screwed up during the non conference portion of their schedule. And then added an inexplicable 30-point home loss to Air Force during the MWC schedule. Advanced metrics since February 1 would have UNLV as a Top 30 team nationally, ahead of every MWC team with the exception of Nevada and SDSU.
  20. I think Acker’s name will come up for some open HC jobs. He was close to getting the Loyola Marymount job when they hired Stan Johnson.
