Remember when mug made a separate forum for Trump discussion only. Yeah we need to do that again. So many more interesting things to talk about , and they all go jack each other off in their own forum.

An ex-president under two indictments, one of which he’s clearly +++++ed, while remaining the frontrunner to win the nomination of a major political party isn’t newsworthy or interesting enough for this board? I see one Trump-specific thread on the front page.

The only thing that matters is that Trump doesn’t get re-elected. And this lawsuit, funded by an Epstein friend billionaire pedophile by the way, did nothing but draw back Trump supporters that had recently bailed on him and raised 10’s of millions of dollars. And Trump might not even end up paying a dime because it’s on appeal, and there’s a really good chance he wins the appeal. So suck it, Commie breath!! 😂😂😂

The centrism oozes from this post.

No major reform legislation on the horizon, the pandemic is over in policy terms, and I've heard a lot of takes in the media of the Biden Administration not having a plan for the end of Title 42 and the presumed large wave as peak season coincides.

Getting it from both sides, the administration has been implementing strategies that "may just work" as the author states.   Lots of reports the past couple of days that the expected crush hasn't happened and the pace at most port crossings remains largely similar to before the T42 deadline.

    https://foreignpolicy.com/2023/04/05/biden-migrants-migration-southern-border-mexico-triangle/

    A couple selections for examples:

"The results have been immediate. Border encounters of Ukrainians trying to cross illegally fell from an average of 940 per day before the initiative to only around one dozen per day. The number of unlawful crossings by Venezuelans, Cubans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans fell from 84,000 last December to just 2,000 in February. Overall, border apprehensions in January and February fell by 42 percent from the December 2022 record."

"Despite the initial success of the new scheme, Biden has faced blistering criticisms from both sides of the political spectrum. Human rights groups and their Democrat allies argue the measures violate U.S. law and are little different from the Trump administration’s efforts to block all asylum seekers at the border."

You don't need to guess what the righties are saying as it's been blared loudly over and over and over.

Great share here. Interesting and encouraging. In today’s politics, if both sides are pissed you’re probably in the right track. Time will tell, though.

@NVGiant. What would be a good bar/brewery to watch the Aztec/Bama game?  And if you want to grab a beer let me know.  I do appreciate the recs.

Brewery? I would go to Boneyard or 10Barrel on Galveston. Both have good TV setups for breweries. Of those two, I’d pick Boneyard. I watched Nevada get embarrassed by ASU at Boneyard last week. A good sports bar? Hideaway Pub has the best TV setup of any place, or if you’re downtown, Sidelines (Not the nicest place but a true sports bar).

When are you getting into town? I have to go to Medford for my kid’s softball tournament this weekend. Leaving Friday and won’t be back until Sunday night.

Yeah we’re not ready to take on the champ yet.. But I think we’re ready to take on one of rust belt states and work our way towards a title fight.

Don’t sell yourself short. Pound for pound, Idaho is a contender!

Nevada State College will officially be renamed 'Nevada State University'. It will add a new tier to the higher education system.

They also just approved a public/private partnership to build an 8500 seat athletic facility on campus to use for youth programs and by the university. This article makes it sound like athletics will be added soon:

They would be a great fit in the WAC, but I'm sure they'll start out in the NAIA or Division 2/3.

How long before NSU is better than UNLV in basketball, too?

It’s less expensive. It is in a safe area, which has more of a traditional campus feel to its location. I’m not sure I’d be so supportive of this if I were Vegas’ administration.

Regardless Nevada is getting the 3,500 kids from Clark county each year who want out of mom and dads basemen — but can’t afford ASU.

HEY! That isn't tr ... (looks in the mirror) ... Well, there aren't basements in Las Vegas.

Solid bump.  @NVGiant, I am in your neck of the woods soon.  Never been in Bend, and have a pretty open schedule for the weekend.  May look into some snowshoe options, and besides McMenamins, any other good brew spots?  Other unique activities or music halls in town?

Happy to give you some spots. McMemanimin's is cool, and you should go (and stay, if you can. Hotel is really neat. And don't forget to look for the Broom Closet.) Great atmosphere, but I can say that much better beer can be had elsewhere. We have a ton of breweries. More per capita than almost anywhere in North America. You'll love Crux, and I'd recommend Sunriver Brewing (great beer), Boneyard (really good beer and a cool place even if it's a little off the beaten track), Monkless (Belgian-style and a really, really cool spot), Deschutes (still good beer, and the OG of Central Oregon's beer scene), Boss Rambler (good beer and right next door to Sunriver). If the weather is good, Bend Brewing Co. has a great outdoor area right on the river downtown. Beer is just decent, though. I'd HIGHLY recommend Ale Apothecary, too. A small brewery, but one of those most imaginative breweries in the Northwest.

Most of the best snowshoeing can be found on the Cascade Lakes Highway. I'm a big fan of snowshoeing out to a warming shelter, which can be a bit of a party on weekends (You'll notice a theme in Bend. Pretty much everything is a party). Meissner and Swampy Lakes Sno-Parks are good places for that. For beauty, the snowshoe out to Tumalo Falls is fantastic. There are many, many more though.

Music: This depends on the time of year. Our big music venue, the Hayden Homes Amphitheater gets a lot of bigger shows, but its outdoors so shows are only from May into October. The Midtown Ballroom/Domino Room are dumps, but will get some good shows. Anything from Ice Cube to the New Pornographers to Built To Spill have performed there. Across the street from the Midtown Ballroom is Silver Moon Brewing. Not my favorite beer, but it's not bad. And they host a lot of bands there. They have a pretty cool food cart lot out back and set up a stage there, too. One of the coolest venues is The Belfry in Sisters, about 20 minutes from Bend. It's an old converted church and they get some good regional bands. If you do go to Sisters, High Camp Taphouse is a great spot for a bite. Himalayan food owned by a husband-wife team that are actually from Nepal (their last name is Sherpa), and good variety of beers on tap.

I've got more. Just let me know what else you want to see and do.

Is she taking uke in school or just figuring it out by herself?

Ukuleles are rad. Much easier than a guitar to get going on but also can be as sophisticated as you want.

My kid picked it up last year. Did some lesson, then the rest on her own. Pretty awesome.

    Well,

What did we learn from all of this?

Somewhere in this 1,100 pages I posted that for some people the pandemic would never end. Whether it's the Bobs of the world, or those relatively healthy people who still refuse to return to a more normal existence, that seems to be true.

No, I changed my mind. As I stated a year ago, the first time I caught COVID I was asymptomatic and still had about 6 months of antibodies and was recommended to boost them. Novavax didn't get FDA approval until July of this year and sometime between waiting I caught COVID for the 2nd time, and was again unaffected.

I didn't get vaccinated initially because I didn't want to participate in a mass medical trial that everyone who took the mRNA vaccination volunteered for after only 4~ months of pre-post clinical trials....few of which are paying the repercussions for whether it be myocarditis, palsy, guillain-barre syndrome, blood clots, or severe aplastic anemia (my girlfriend's 22 year old brother was diagnosed of this directly because of the vaccine and he may die if he doesn't find a donor soon and our family will be shattered)  Then my other reason was the tyrannical lockdowns and blackmail tactics the government/media/corporations used to push people to get vaccinated whether it was threatening their jobs, freedom to travel, socialize, etc... now I'm finally refusing the vaccine because after catching it twice and being unaffected twice-- I simply don't need to and neither did 99.9% of youngish adults or child in this country.

You caved to societal pressure and fear tactics. Most people did. I don't believe in "greater good" mentality behind the vaccine. How our government and media handled this entire situation was nothing short of pure evil and I hope those responsible repent for their souls otherwise they will burn in hell.

You ever get to the bottom of that gang of Antifa arsonists?

  13. My friends are going through this now with their 14 year old daughter. It’s a real struggle for them, but ultimately they came down to the decision to be supportive up to the point of any medical intervention that is irreversible.
