  1. I get your trepidation. When AA was let go, I thought for sure JD would hire an experienced head coach. But he simply couldn’t ignore what SD did—becoming the first interim head coach to win a conference championship in college football history. In today’s environment, that was an impressive audition, and the team was all-in. Had JD gone away from the guy who steadied the ship during the most tumultuous in-season period in Boise State history, the players would likely have hit the portal en masse, leaving whoever JD hired instead to build from nothing. That would have been like Nevada’s roster after Norvell left. Cannot win starting from scratch. We have the talent to become dominant again right away…not worth losing it because another coach looked better on paper.
  2. Agree. No consistency whatsoever. Oregon is going to roll—Fiesta Bowl execs cannot be happy with the pick…even a Boise State selection would have been a more interesting pick on a national level and a more competitive game (not that I was holding my breath for it).
  3. My understanding is that BYU built in automatic outs in their contracts if they join a P5 conference. While greatly diminished, the Big 12 still has P5 ststus.
