What caused you to want such a large house?  The land, the neighborhood?  Would you have bought something smaller if it was available?

Neighborhood, build quality, and we've got room in the basement for a full gym. We definitely would have gone smaller, but this needed some remodeling done (basement hadn't been touched since the mid-80s) and had been on the market long enough that it was priced below what a reasonable (say, 2000 sq. ft.) house would have cost at the time.

Honestly America...what is the deal with the need to have a cavernous house?

    Because f\/ck you, that's why! /s

In all seriousness, my wife and I have no kids and a 3400 square foot house. We remarked after closing that it's pretty sad that you have to make as much as we did and not have kids to afford a house that would fit a family of 5-6.

He tried to pull the same thing in another thread claiming with a Pew research survey how most of the world has a favorable opinion of America. The problem was, only 23 or 26 countries took part in the survey and two of those recently have a negative view of America.

You really need to read that piece by Dr. Rand Paul M.D. that I posted back a page or two. He describes pretty much what you stated and how Dr Fauci lied and tried to cover his tracks. Rand Paul backs his claims with evidence and information from other virologists. He also gets into the power of Dr. Fauci over many decades. There's also evidence of censorship and black balling from the left wing media. Dr. Rand Paul was also hammered by the media.

The real winners from the pandemic were corporate and health care bureaucrats.

Ah yes, the completely unbiased eye doctor Rand Paul. Definitely no spin in that piece. I know that the first person I ask about immunizations and virology is my opthamologist. /s

I've been trying to talk to Barack Obama for years, but this little peasant boy isn't even worthy of looking up at him, I'm not even better than a cat to him smh..

Or I'm just horrible at asking him for help.

Anyway, if he wanted to talk to me, this is what I would ask him.

    1) Do you know how debasing it is for other biracial people for you to pick a side that isn't wholly you?

    2) If you were born 30 years later and in Kenya, what would you do? I mean, after you married your princess of course..

    3) Who is Jeffrey Epstein?

    4) How would you feel if Michelle never agreed to get married to you? And what would you have done then? Live loveless or find a different love, if love can ever be different?

    5) Why run a shadow government? What's the difference then, between you and an African dictator? You spoil the land all just the same.

    6) How do you sleep at night?

    7) When there is no right decision seemingly, what do you tell your baby?

    8) Was love enough for his story? And that of his family?

    9) When you have to take a life, do you die a little inside or do you smile because you know you are right?

    10) Do you think your legacy is set in stone, is your story over or is it just the beginning? Because both can be true.

But a peasant boy biracial African doesn't get to grace his honor.. because, reasons.

Meh, I haven't tried to talk to him in a while.

I'll probably just go to a convention.

Talk about a devilish trick. He played you, obv.

Anyway, the gop is a joke.

    Nikki was shut out.

    Corruption breeds ineptness.

The gop needs to coalesce into its post Trump form. America needs a moral renaissance. It's too ugly.

Can't even celebrate at the Superbowl. Just protest.

I was there but I slept outside.

My mom doesn't have a house. That's why.

    How many millions until freedom..

Some are born with freedom. Others have to fight.

I'm sure his father is so proud of him, wherever he may be. Probably just in his dreams though.

I see we've come full circle to the title of the thread

Scientists are sounding the alarm over the spread of "zombie deer disease" amid fears it may evolve to infect humans.

They've been "sounding the alarm" over this for like 15 years. The fact of the matter right now is that chronic wasting disease is killing entire herds of deer, elk, and moose. It's a big problem that we've been trying to solve in the plains for over a decade. It's been getting better lately, but still not understood well enough to eradicate it.

I think what's holding me back is I'm late to the credit game... didn't even get my first credit card until I was almost out of my 20's. So while everything else on my credit report looks good, the average account age is pretty young which I suppose is what's keeping me where I'm at.

Don't plan to need any loans anytime soon, so I guess I'll sit back and let it climb slowly

I TANKED my credit when I was in college. Had a sub 600 score when I was 26 and trying to buy a house. That made life pretty difficult. Decided then to buckle down and do something about it. Got it to the low 700s by the time my wife and I bought our current house in 2016. Did almost exactly what @Motown Monty recommended above; got a few cards, used them and paid them off monthly, eventually the limits got raised to a crazy amount, and my score skyrocketed. There was one month in particular a few years ago that my average account age hit the "good" range and my score jumped like 40 points.

From a logistical perspective, that one makes a lot more sense.

That said, I still think that my wife's Bersa Thunder is better option for a purse gun.

I've got one of the little North American Arms 5 shot pistols that he referenced in that video. It's got a ridiculously stiff trigger pull. Neat little pistol, but completely impractical.

  8. I've been hanging out right around here for over a year now. I'm going to have to replace my vehicle soon, so it's good to know that I'll just get the best rate they have and be off the lot in no time.

    Glad I watched Loki....

Marvel bouncing back and forth between TV series and movies has really muddied the waters. Just watched The Marvels this weekend (and liked it). Took me a while to figure out what the hell Monica Rambeau was talking about when she said she walked through a witch's hex to get her powers. It's been a minute since WandaVision.

So many of these remind me of my dad, but this one in particular really nails it. "You know, the X's told me they..." "No one knows who those people are." He does that stuff ALL THE TIME 🤣

Today's the 50th anniversary of Blazing Saddles being released in theatres - February 7, 1974. It's my favorite movie of all time

Mine too. There's rarely a movie that comes along that is universally funny from start to finish. Mel Brooks was a genius.

  12. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the NCAA ain't going anywhere, and any school or conference that thinks about leaving it is out of their damn minds. March Madness alone is worth BILLIONS of dollars every year, and you're not going to be able to make that happen without 250+ teams vying for a spot in the bracket.

Football is a different story. You have to tread VERY lightly, though. If you break away in football you risk losing your spot in the NCAA for every other sport. Football may drive the bus, but there is a LOT of work to be done if you don't want to screw up all other sports.

  14. This is tied to a few things. Losses in your state matter much less than you think. These affect insurance nationwide:

    1. Rising costs of labor and materials
    2. Rising frequency of large losses due to weather disasters
    3. Poor market perfomance of reinsurance portfolios

#3 is a big one. We have exactly zero oversight over reinsurance (which is how the insurance companies cover their asses when a forest fire burns down a sizeable populated area). The National Association of Insurance Commissioners is looking pretty hard into what we can do to get some regulation over the reinsurance that is used by insurance companies.
