  1. Reading about a million posts about league realignment and how horrible "other" teams and leagues and fans are has really depressed me. The schadenfreude and jealousy and cynicism are really hard to digest. College football is destroying itself because of greed and people's willingness to head down the road to winner-take-all sports and a continually less level playing field. Reading posts from Houston fans who (now they're headed to the Big 12) salivate to hopes the Pac-12 (10) disintegrates, leagues poaching schools from 3 time zones away, fans drooling over the elimination of a someone else's team's chance of survival in the new system destroyed-this is what we want? I am an Aztec fan who showed "Out of the Blue" to my high school film class years back, who was angry when Wyoming didn't get a bowl bid after going undefeated or almost undefeated years back because of their small population, who applauded Fresno State's NCAA baseball championship, who pulls for UNLV to improve their football team, and for the MAC conference and the Sunbelt conference. I'd love to see parity or at least a fairly level plaing field for all universities who want to compete. I'd like to see regional time zone leagues that are competitive. Southern California teams in a league on the East Coast? SDSU is the closet major college team to the Pacific Ocean. It's an excellent university with excellent teams. Would it fit in the Pac-12? I think so. Some people in the Pac-12 would rather die than see us in there. I'd like to see Fresno and some other schools join us in a geographically sensible league. I'd like Boise in the league too, but I'd rather see them in an equally supported league with some of their closer neighbors (Colorado, Oklahoma, etc.). How about all the 140 or so teams divided up regionally with an attempt at relatively equal tv money? Wouldn't that be better than only a handful of teams who ever have a chance at being national champs every year? Isn't that better than 2 leagues having all the money and then one of them having all the money and then just one team from the one surviving league becoming the '27 Yankees? That's where we're headed. Call me a collectivist pizza-gate groomer who hates freedom and America or whatever, but thanks for letting me vent. See you at the tournament in Vegas next week!
  2. Troy- Your last post brought tears to my eyes. I promise to follow the advice you gave in the last paragraph. Continued condolences and take care.
