  1. Hector in Fargo had 455,512 emplanements in 2022. The most local airport to Colorado State is Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland and they had roughly 10,000 emplanments However most people take the Denver Airport. 55 miles away and requires taking a subway to get to the correct terminal.
  2. Similar in North Dakota for NDSU. All games are on statewide ABC. Like free over the air ABC that everyone gets. This is in addition to ESPN+ simulcasts. As far as radio goes, there are only 2 less affiliates in Minnesota than ND and it goes all the way to Minneapolis One thing both ND and MT schools have going for them is the fact that states give them very little money and they are able to thrive without it due to good fan bases and donors
  3. The Fargo Moorhead metro area is also 45% of the entire state of Wyomings population and is growing rapidly. Most people think of us as North Dakota only. We're actually more of a Minnesota school. Even our radio network goes all the way to Minneapolis and ND only has 2 more affiliates than MN
  4. That's kind of disengenuous since the only people who watch Marquee are Cubs fans. Its the only reason it exists They needed filler for the off season and Illinois State gave away their product for free. Meanwhile it sure doesnt help attendance since Illinois State didnt crack 9k all season and the last 2 televised games drew 4,989 - vs Youngstown State 2,579 - vs Western Illinois Again... the size of a TV market is meaningless if nobody gives a shit about the teams. The WNBA is more relevant in Chicago than ISU Football This is one of many reasons NDSU fans want to move up. They want to play teams that have fan bases and care about their team Meanwhile 34,544 Bison fans watched them in Minneapolis in 2019 and an estimated 20k Bison fans showed up to watch them play in Arizona.
  5. Actually Hector International Airport is doing a 130 million dollar addition, which is doubling the number of gates and square footage. Should be completed within a few years. It's tough to add when you are maxed out of space and gates Have you ever tried to fly directly to Laramie Wyoming? Lol
  6. The MAC would be a better option if there is no Mountain West (after its gutted) or if all the good teams leave and the TV revenue is nothing But if we're patient we can do way better. We have the luxury of being in a stable conference and can continue building our program until the time is right The WAC would be the better option if they follow through on their goal to move up to FBS within 10 years and want football only members They have an agreement with the Atlantic Sun as an FCS conference If the Montana schools ever wanted to go FBS together and the Mountain West is too snobby I could see a WAC someday with a football only conference of... Montana, Montana State, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Sam Houston State, Jacksonville State, and maybe Northern Iowa That core of 7 has some really good teams who draw well, have built in rivalries and care about football All the other FCS teams in the current WAC who don't want to move up would join the Atlantic Sun FCS Conference who was just formed and they have an auto bid alliance with them. So anyone who says "Dixie State in the FBS?" doesn't realize they would play football in the Atlantic Sun Most of the other football programs are in Texas so that's got some potential. All but 2 of the main school are in central time zones too (Montana schools Mountain)
  7. I understand the history of the WAC quite well. I understand how TV contracts work too and the importance of a conference championship game and having more teams and quality games I'm just saying if your not aggressive, you could drop below the 8 and be disbanded. Nobody outside of a few random fans said NDSU would be the next Boise bit we would be competitive
  8. When 2 other teams are like, there are no good teams left and the TV contract shrinks because all the good teams are gone, then you're down to 6. Then you'll be begging New Mexico State or the Montana schools to move up. So the Montana schools may be key to your survival . Maybe Idaho State But at that point it may not be appealing to them
  9. Memphis is probably going to the Big 12 with Boise in a few years. It has been reported. This is after Colorado State and Air Force leave. After this all falls in place it may be a fight for survival Aac is going to have to replace 4 teams and then Conference usa is going to gave to replace teams they lose. Could be the G4
  10. Nice try. 13 years ago that 2008 NDSU team was only 6-5 and it took a last second field goal to win
  11. Liberty is the only exception of team being allowed to move up without a conference. It was a 1 time waiver. I don't think we need to get our foot in the door, we're much more proven than most of the teams who moved up. We just need to wait for a good situation. I guarantee the Group of 5 will be the group of 3 or 4 if they don't plan accordingly
  12. Cmon. It's not the fans who are annoying, it's the on field results. We hear it all week "you've never seen speed like us." Then the games happen. 2019 - semi final NDSU 42 Montana State 14 2018 - 2nd round playoffs. NDSU 52 Montana State 10 2010 2nd round playoffs in Bozeman NDSU 42 Montana State 17
  13. If you cant compete for Bowl Games or Conference Championships, it wouldn't be enjoyable at all. What's your goal being an independent? It's not like we're BYU or Notre Dame with a big TV deal
  14. If they go back to the way they did it in the 60s and 70s and just have big conferences vs small conferences, that might be appealing too if they do a playoff. Back then it was the NCAA College Division and NCAA University division. Our National Championship teams in the 60s were in the College Division that included teams that are now the entire Mac conference and many G5 schools including San Diego State, Fresno, Hawaii, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, It also had power houses like Parsons College, Northeastern, Susquehana, Ursinus Thiel, and Carnegie Melon lol I couldn't imagine a scenario where G5 schools want to compete in the same division as FCS, D2 and D3. Most FCS schools would vomit at thought of D2 and D3 teams as well
  15. I won't argue that point at all. Coastal Carolina would be very difficult with only a day notice Had BYU had a regular week to prepare it could have been different But I don't want to chalk them up as a team that's only good because of their unique offensive scheme either otherwise they would be losing a bunch of games But we've never lost to a triple option team as a D1 team either. I was just acknowledging it requires significant gap discipline to defend it and then you have to forget everything you practiced Not many teams run the triple option
  16. When it's meant to be it will happen. I just hope we're ready to move when the time is right. I just really like the Mountain West and I'm envious of how the Sunbelt is coming along What really pisses me off is the rare FBS game we get, our payout is like 600k. That what Oregon paid us (for the cancelled covid game) Then Wyoming gets a Texas game and they get 1.8 million. Not because they are way better than us, but because they have the FBS moniker behind them. That's a lot of money for a schools budget. Just that 1.2 million dollar difference would be enough to fund the extra 22 scholarships and give our coaches a nice raise to retain them Sorry for the long winded discussion. Im just really passionate and I just have a gut feeling something is up when our AD declines comment on media reports. That's rare for him
  17. I mean he won 9 and 10 games at Nebraska seemingly every year and then they fired him. Nebraska would kill to win 7 games But he did make the FCS Championship game in 2016 with players he didn't recruit. and. After that it was all downhill. He tried to build a team with FBS transfers while teams like NDSU are developmental programs and redshirt almost everyone And looking at his results at LSU, it's hard to disagree lol. That defense is garbage
  18. All the good FCS schools keep moving up so eventually it will be watered down. D1AA used to be deep and had star power. Marshall, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Liberty and now James Madison to the Sunbelt is pretty much a done deal. The top FCS teams are great but every year since 2011, a Missouri Valley Team had been in the National Championship because the playoff pool is weak. We even faced a conference foe in the Championship one year. Most Championship games occur in the playoffs when we face another MVFC team That's why fans are itching to move up
  19. But they are typically bonded and not raised with 100% private funds Our IPF will be nicer than everyone in the MAC Conference and amongst the nicest in the G5 leagues But NW Missouri State is a top notch D2 program. I expect them to move up anytime. They are a decade overdue
  20. The Conference is phenomenal but the teams just aren't that popular nationally and they don't draw very well. The Conference is so good that Youngstown State couldn't even get over the top with Bo Pelini. Although I miss his epic meltdowns after beating them But all Missouri Valley teams jack up the ticket prices when NDSU comes to town
  21. Bringing Rutgers to the Big 10 is a prime example of why only targeting large metros is a dumb idea. They've done nothing for the conference Nebraska is total garbage now but its still a big home game for everyone simply because they are Nebraska. Give them time and they will come back to being good
  22. Hawaii also has their own TV deal with Spectrum but honestly a flight to Hawaii is a major drain on finances NDSU had no desire to switch conferences for other sports. The Summit is a perfect fit for us. North Dakota State, South Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota, St Thomas (St Paul MN), Omaha, Kansas City, Denver and Oral Roberts who just made the Sweet 16. I predict it will surpass the Missouri Valley in basketball within 10 years We make the Big Dance seemingly every other year in basketball. Women's Basketball is a 2 bid league. The Summit League Tournament is one of the best mid majors. How many draw 6k for a 1st round Tuesday aftetnoon WBB game? Softball makes the big dance regularly and made the Sweet 16. Track and Field has numerous all amicans and a national champion. We're in the Big 12 for Wrestling. Now if you added Gonzaga everyone would want to join
  23. Speaking of Air Force, prepping for the triple option every year must suck for d coordinators. We've played 3 option teams (5 games) in the playoffs with 6 days notice and they've all been tough games. 2 were easy but 3 were hard
  24. Illinois State is FCS and in our conference. You can't compare a conference game to a non conference game. We play them every year and that was the 2nd time we played them that year. The first we beat the. 37-3 at their stadium. Their running back was James Robinson who ran for 1070 yards for the Jacksonville Jaguars last year Really good team, just not a TV draw
