  1. One thing I think needs to be noted is that this team ended tbe season banged up. Last years team also ended the season banged up. And KKs first team also had a rash of late injuries. Not sure why but could take a few guesses.
  2. Get your Krugerball 2025 shirts ready, cross your fingers and hope KK isn't recruiting an entirely new team for next season. Oh and NIT/cbi maybe..
  3. Not sure what more Kevin could have done in this game. It only sort of mattered. Im sure KK wants that 20. Even though he didn't seem like fiery Kevin today. He seemed more like bewildered Kevin. I really have no clue what the ceiling of the program is under Kevin. It's interesting several here seem sold KK will get UNLV rolling. What ive seen so far makes me way nervous. He made way too many crucial mistakes throughout the season that cost the program 3-4 games for sure. He will need a deeper and more talented team than this one which is also concerning. Because this team was both, but KK took too long to figure out what he had and gave away winnable games early.
  4. Well without that, none of the other coaches have gotten over the 20 game hump. So maybe there was something there
  5. Pretty sure we're in for year four of the KK era. KK has been consistent. So no reason to go out on a limb regarding expectations. I think he would need to stack a class even better than this one, which will not be easy at all. His last two back courts were heavily dependent on one guy down the stretch. UNLV needs both guard positions to defend and bring top tier scoring. Not either or. No more under sized zero athlete. UNLV needs 6-4 plus sg who can shoot and finish.
  6. Well the last team to win 20 did it in the regular season and didn't get an NIT. I think very low NIT probability the way UNLV back door dogged it on the way out. But if they get in and get healthy they are a threat to get to the semis. CBI also.
  7. Can UNLV please pick up the scoring next season? These 60 point in reg games seriously put me to sleep some times. Am I the only one who hates losing boring? UNLV needs to stop screwing around at the sg position. Too many broke jumpers ans zero size or sauce. Go get some certified bucket getters. No more Websters/David Jenkins/ JJ3s. All due respect to those guys who don the s&g, but outside of DJ, who is a legacy recruit, KK has done a terrible job recruiting impact backcourt players to UNLV. Just Harkless and to a lesser degree DW.
  8. It's crazy that Marvin Menzies is the only coach in forever to win 20 games at UNLV. So many people turned their nose up, but how about 18,19 & 19 for incremental - I can't really see it but I guess I'll take your word for it - growth? Losing their last two, not hitting 20 wins or advancing in the conference tournament on your own floor is probably the biggest backdoor into a dud I can remember.
  9. Rebs have been sloppy and disorganized late in games all season. The offense completely evaporated late, combined with mental lapses, turnovers, bad shots. But once again, and what has been a staple of all of KKs teams, the defense carried the day. I want to see KK recruit an unstoppable scorer at sg for next season. An EJ/Hamilton would be crazy on this team.
  10. This is by far my favorite UNLV team in a long time. Keylan is a much better defensive/glue player and more streaky than I thought, but he's good. UNLV has become the most physical and imposing team in the conference. Kevin has gone away from perimeter/guard centric and settled on size/athleticism. Hes adjuated his demeanor to fiery, yet composed. It's really good. Wondering how good of a sg can KK bring in through the portal. UNLV csn really take a leap next season.
  11. All valid points. UNLV needs to extend for recruiting, but moreso to include a hefty buy out should KK continue to ascend. It's not pressing, could protect UNLV. Yes there's more season to go, but even if they lose their next two, cbi is still on the table most likely. But valid point because we want the Rebs to stay hungry and make the dance. As far as fire Kruger, to suggest there hasn't been a massive correction since ph and 18 were going nuclear, is probably a bit disingenuous. But fair point. It could be back next season, which makes the extension more touchy.
  12. I think KK has put together enough of a conference run at this point. Even if there is regression. It's probably time to start talking about an extension of Kevin's contract. This team is most certainly postseason worthy.
  13. The team looks legit, finally. I think this version of UNLV beats that version of suds again if they meet up.
  14. Well we'll well. How the tables have turned. Big ups to this team, head coach and staff.
  15. Just can't see UNLV pulling this game out. Hope the Rebs prove me wrong. But I'm just hoping to keep this one close.
  16. Rebels up is the new AD Erick Harper's program. Not just a coincidence of timing like DRF used to get.
  17. UNLV simply cannot afford to drop this one at home. It's probably the last reg season game UNLV will come in as the favorite.
  18. 0-3 and a 1st or 2nd game exit mwct would be disaster and a complete meltdown. 1-2 and two mwct wins is the bare minimum and coincidentally would also get UNLV to 20 wins. Anything above that 20 is cake.
  19. I don't know. This team has beat every team it's "supposed to" for a solid month or so now. Afa debacle aside, Kevin Kruger has righted the seasons ship. I've expected to win each game. Record and season as a whole, it's a pretty mediocre season. But UNLV is playing its best basketball heading into March. With the remaining schedule including mwct KK could really turn what was looking like a turd of a season, into gold bar. If the Rebs just keep winning, slow, ugly, whatever. There's really no limit to how this season could end up. Also KK and staff stepping up when the pressure has clearly been on them is a positive as well. Pressure is still on and they need to see this thing through. Collapse would be a bit of a surprise to me at this point.
  20. Everyone was up in arms when I said he's prone to poor shooting and turnovers. But he's a freshman who has the ball all the time. He's going to need to get in the lab this summer to deepen his bag. It's decent, but he can be better.
  21. DJ shooting 3-10 with 3 TOs.
  22. I like the force and energy Cottrell is rebounding with. Would love to see UNLV play with more pace. This walk it up offense puts me to sleep. Also nice little 1.3.1 before the half.
