I hate this team. They are going to kill me. So much stress….God I love this team.8 points

Why? It's still clear that it's Nevada - Las Vegas rather than Nevada. You can tell because it doesn't have Vandal asswhipping marks all over it. Ask @Nevada Convert, he'll tell you all about it.8 points

In my opinion, Rams should have gone for 2 after making their first TD in OT. They wouldn't be able to go 2-3 OT against CU. Best to end it as quickly as possible.7 points

Should've just went for 2 in 1st overtime7 points

Morning MWers We are officially in the fall! All autumn color decorations, flannels, and planning the property for Halloween decorations are now allowed. Hunters are breaking out their gear for their prep, and ladies are going to start swapping out the wardrobes (thank all that is holy for vacuum seal bags). Best of all, most of it can get done with what is on paper, the best week thus far in college football. With 4 of our teams out of the way, those folks can kick their feet up and just enjoy the day. Mazel Tov to fall! UNM is across the country to face UMass. I believe UMass has already filled their quota for wins, so please don't give them another one, UNM has already took their gut punch last week. Colorado State is in Murfreesboro to take on Middle Tennessee. Speaking of a gut punch, the Rams need to find a way to shed last week's collapse. Hopefully, it starts with never going with the prevent defense again (ya hear that Boise?). An intriguing matchup in Laramie with App State taking on Wyoming. Now, it is hard to gauge App whenever you look at them playing big boys, especially in-state teams. This is a team that is full emotion, full time. Which is why they rarely win their conference but either scare or beat P5's and teams from their part of the country. Wyoming still having their questions on QB status should have their hands full, but if they can limit disaster, this will be one that I wish wasn't buried in the midst of so many big games. Nevada limps into San Marcos, but there are positives to look at here. Idaho has proven to be no slouch, whattaya gonna do against USC, and they only lost by 7 to Kansas, and Texas State is no Kansas. With back-to-back games of importance after this for the Wolf Pack, a win here can go a long way to instill confidence. Newcomer to the FBS, JMU is still looking competitive at this rung at takes a 3-0 record into Logan. A stiff test for the Aggies, but if you can show up in the first half, I think the travel over to UT could be a good intangible that can sway the game. UNLV is carrying its newfound swagger into El Paso, and hopefully they can keep it going to close out their OOC for a potential winning record going into conference play. But hopefully the QB1 status was actually decided during this week's practice, and not automatically given to Brumfield. Kent State is in Fresno, and though Fresno has technically not had their WTF loss, they almost did, so perhaps that was the one for the year, and with Kent State looking pretty bad, this should be a cruiser for the Bulldogs. And to close things out Hawaii is looking to avenge UNM as NMSU is on the Islands. But, with only a victory vs Albany, it is not looking like this will be something I would put money on. Around the country, this week is just filled with good games. Right out of the gate, Florida State is looking to get a pivotal victory over a now unranked Clemson, and look to take the reins of the ACC firmly away from the stranglehold Clemson had on it over the past decade. Auburn is in Aggieland in while not a ranked matchup, it should be just a fun game to watch. And in the second slate of games, it is just ranked vs ranked all over. DVR's and multiple TV's, or going to a sports bar is a likely necessity. Colorado is at Oregon, and can the Ducks quiet the Prime Time hype? UCLA is in Utah, and there is no Cam Rising in this game, but the Utes haven't missed a beat. Ole Miss is at Alabama, and I am sure Bama is out for blood after dropping out of the top 10 for the first time in about a decade (which is just crazy to think about). And in this slot, there is still UTSA at Tennessee and BYU at Kansas. The early evening slot is just as stacked with Wazzu and OSU in a meeting of ranked yet still in the dark teams, Arkansas trying to be a thorn in LSU's side, as is Baylor as they host Texas, and Iowa facing the whiteout in Happy Valley. The later slot is pretty sparse, but Cal at UW could be interesting. And game of the week is in South Bend as Ohio State is facing Notre Dame. I do like Notre Dame, but is Ohio State ever not a problem for any team? Gotdam this is a great looking slate of games. As for me, I am grilling, cleaning, and not having to deal with SDSU on another great Saturday. Hoping for the Gophers and UNC to not slip up against down teams tonight, and gonna just enjoy the day. Gophers polo laid out, Carolina flag posted, a bunch of meat marinated, grill is about to be prepped and beer is in the fridge. My body is ready. Best of luck to our conference mates, and enjoy this fantastic fall Saturday!6 points

I'm uniquely familiar with this sort of losing. A fact you may have already deduced from my longtime support of the Idaho Vandals. This sort of losing can only be reversed by a blood sacrifice. I suggest @Nevada Convert6 points

we went camping in the smokies this weekend, about 5200 feet high in north carolina. they're little mountains, and it's weird to see mountains dominated by deciduous trees, but they're mountains. it was high enough to finally get that nice night time camping chill I've been missing.6 points

Odom brought in a bunch of good transfer portal guys and has maintained his connections to the middle of the country. UNLV is getting a serious talent upgrade and a good season will make it easier. People in the middle of the country dream of coming to Vegas. Add in a decent team and the players will be lining up to come. I said a few months ago that my biggest concern with Odom is that he is too successful and is gone too fast.6 points

This is where the rebuttal comes in. What shred of evidence exists that any media company is prepared to pay twice as much to a subset of MWC schools than those schools would be paid otherwise, just because OSU and WSU are now in the picture? I know it’s an awful thing to accept and deal with for OSU and WSU, but the reality is that what previously separated them from MWC schools with respect to athletics was their association with the other Pac schools. That association is now gone, and along with it, the power conference visibility, revenue and recruiting advantages that allowed them to sustain a competitive edge versus what are otherwise peer schools in the MWC. Going forward there is no reason for the media companies to expect OSU and WSU to outperform the top MWC schools, and consequently, to place any greater valuation on OSU’s or WSU’s broadcast rights than on Boise State’s, Fresno State’s, or San Diego State’s. Before any of this happened the MWC was already looking forward to a new media deal that might bump the per-school payout from $4 million per school up to perhaps $8 million per school. Now that renegotiation can take place sooner, and it may still yield $8 million per school, and if OSU and WSU sign on that’s what they’ll get too. But I just don’t see any market forces that would pump that up to a $16 million per school deal by excluding half of the current MWC membership. No combination of six current MWC schools plus OSU and WSU is going to be paid that much, especially since there’s no chance of the deal including a GOR to protect the media partner. I think at best, a Pac-8 might earn $10-$12 million per school instead of $8 million. Over the term of a six-year deal that would produce a net revenue benefit of $12-$24 million. That’s not enough of a differential to cover the MWC’s exit fee, even if the fee were significantly reduced in exit negotiations. Moreover a Pac-8 would have higher travel costs than the current MWC due to the average distance between members being greater, and would have more challenges with scheduling and with sponsoring niche sports because of its small size. Despite all of the above I don’t rule out the possibility that some MWC schools will opt to defect as part of a Pac rebuild led by OSU and WSU. But if it happens I don’t believe the reason will be that it makes sense financially. It will happen because of ego.6 points

That you are comparing the trash talk and 'MOM, HE TOUCHED ME!!' with sending a kid to the hospital with injuries that might affect his career is incomprehensible to me. In fact, reading the last couple of pages with your justification of this is just mind boggling. And yes, all of those (10) personal foul penalties come back and lay squarely at the foot of the coach. Disgusting. With that said, the Sanders kid was an idiot for poking at the Rams kid's eyes. That was also disgusting. But it's ridiculous that you're trying to justify pregame trash talk with an injury that requires hospitalization. If that were my player I'd be all for a suspension, he deserves it. As a matter of fact, I think a UNLV player got suspended last year for a game for a dirty play, and we were all supportive of it, and many even wanted him kicked off the team, there is no place for that shit in college football. Be like rebel fans in this situation, lol.6 points

Awesome. Saturday I ran an All-America road race time for the 5k on a certified course. I’m ordering my gear and certificate this week. It’s been a long process. Lost 20lbs and knocked 5 minutes off my 5k time. 21:33 5k. 21:49 is the All American mark for 45-49. if I can stay healthy my goal is all American status from 400m thru 10000M on the track this summer and hopefully a medal at national. Some stud in my age division runs a 2:02 800m. So silver is my best scenario. I want to sweep gold at the sunflower games this summer as well. 100 and 200 will be difficult plus the grind of 6 events. I have 25 lbs to lose and lot of speed work over the next few months.6 points

That’s what makes college football fun. These students haven’t seen their Buffs win before and this was to an in-state rival, which is great for college football. Let them have their fun man.6 points

Beating your chest after an L in which your team was penalized over 170 yards? Coaching and lack of discipline were the reasons you lost that game. Otherwise you win going away. Not sure why you’re taking a victory lap today.6 points

Well, if we had no right winning that game, App State had even less right. It didn't score an offensive TD. Couldn't protect a 19-7 4Q lead. Gave up a special-teams TD on offense. Threw a game-ending pick. Does that sound like they deserved to win? In the 4Q we scored on a 75-yard run. We blocked a FG for another TD. We held App State scoreless on offense in the second half by forcing four punts, blocking a FG and intercepting a pass on the final drive. Games are 60 minutes. We played better when it mattered. We made more good plays. We had every right to win that game, and we did. "Luck" doesn't block FGs or intercept passes. The team that deserves to win almost always does, and tonight was no different. That said, yes, our offense is uninspiring.5 points

We do not have to offer unequal revenue to O/WSU. They do not have leverage in joining the MWC. We'd be idiots to not recognize their financial adjustments though. We assume that whatever they can get from the Pac assets is theirs, and we get together in some form to move forward. As an aside, I'd put the odds of the P2 taking 9 MWC teams to dissolve the conference at 0%. It'll be an all or nothing merger. Any other approach will get way too ugly.5 points

Elevation effects aren't linear. They're logarithmic. Based on my very scientific method of "being a competitive/club level swimmer and runner", the conditioning/oxygen debt difference between Gonzaga at ~2000 ft and Fort Collins at 5000 feet was less than the difference between Laramie at 7200 feet and Fort Collins at 5000 feet. 7200 feet takes a toll. Even people who live there never fully acclimate to the point of having equal performance compared to low altitude (I never was able to do the same running/swimming intervals in Laramie that I could in Fort Collins, while getting PRs in actual races). I’m a fan of the EPL and the English FA system in general (Champoinship-National league). I lived in Europe and I’ve followed these leagues for more than twenty years and trying to implement this system in college football is as stupid as a screen door on a submarine. Let me count the ways. 1) Doing it on your own without all of FBS going along is cutting your own throat. 2) Once your team is demoted and all your players transfer out (remember the portal?) you are SOL and never recovering. Soccer teams are professional clubs with contracts and they get paid when players leave. Then they can buy new players. 3) Recruiting will be a wasteland. Soccer clubs are just that, clubs with developmental academies. You can grown your own great players in this system. Many clubs stay economically viable by having great academies and selling young players. Then buying more players. 4) The system is tied to the transfer system and economics of international Football. 5) Lower division revenue is a fraction of Top Flight revenue. 6) Teams that can’t move up go broke and sell to new owners who then invest their own money to improve (Ryan and Rob). Who is going to buy your team, oh wait…nobody can. 7) Scheduling can’t be balanced or fair with College football. In a soccer league, it is a true round robin. Every team plays everyone else at home and away. Not possible in CFB and not everyone gets an equal shot. 8) Smaller teams can stay relevant by competing in national open tournaments (the FA cup in England). They get to go up against the big teams and quite often knock them off. Again not possible in CFB. 9) It’s un-American. Not in the way that you think. This system has been in place for a century and a half in England. If Man City has an awful season the fans will scream and throw a fit but they will accept the outcome. No way a college football program can survive the economic blow of a demotion. Can you imagine Bama going down as accepting it. Well, Newcastle United (4xchamps 2x runner up) did and so did Aston Villa (7xchamps 10x runner up). There’s more but I’m tired.5 points
