I am going to go with the Pit because if UNM sucks balls they are still packing 15k for every home crowd. When BYU or UNLV are having extended down years their attendance drops like a rock.

All three arenas are really tough to play in, However, I have to go with THE PIT. It gets so loud in there sometimes it seems like the basket starts shaking (ask DJ Gay). The intensity and loyalty of the fans is incredible, they can will the home team to win. Like others have pointed out, even when the Lobos have had down years, and there have been plenty, the fans still show up in numbers and make noise. Fans in New Mexico have pride in THE PIT it is the one thing that brings everyone together. In fact it is usually the first question one asks when talking about Lobo games. "Was THE PIT rocking?"

It's the Thomas and Mack Center. Period.-- Handed BYU their worst lost of the season.

And handed a bad Utah team their best win of the season. Not surprised you forgot about that one though. In typical Rebel fan fashion you will solely focus on your one point of interest - like say a Sweet 16 run in 18 years of mediocrity with 4 trips to the NCAA's and minimal conference championships - and grasp to it like your life depended on it.

I'll take 18 years of mediocrity over 100+ years of BYU mediocrity. Sounds a lot like how BYU grasps to their pathetic little consolation prizes they call Conference Titles-- Yeah I'm sure every fan here would trade post-season success on a National Stage for your little MWC titles.. NO one cares about MWC Titles except BYU because thats all they been able to achieve while Utah and TCU win BCS Bowls and UNLV wins NCAA Tournament Games.

BYU football must be so proud of their .375 winning % in the postseason. Or their .275 postseason record in basketball. BYU sure are masters at looking impressive in the regular season but disappear in the post-season. BYU Athletics and choking are almost synonymous.

UNLV won their national championship by beating the best Team, by the largest margin of victory in a NCAA Championship game. Ever. BYU got theirs by beating a questionable 6-5 Michigan team by a 1 touchdown for their national title.

BYU can continue to rely on their weak scheduling to prop themselves in the regular season, while the rest of the Conference actually WINS when it counts.--and We'll still let you beat your chests and chat how dominant you are.

When UNLV adds something of value to the MWC other than a Las Vegas location let me know. I hope I'm alive to see it. I really do. Given the state of Nevada's budget they should just take their losses and discontinue the failed experiment known as UNLV athletics.

Bingo-- This might as well be a poll counting which of the three fanbases have the most fans posting here.. Is this a carry on thread from the last one discussing this? I'll post the evidence here as well.. The proof is in the numbers in where the harder place to play is:

1.Thomas and Mack Center(unlvrebels.cstv.com)- 83% winning percentage (Longest winning streak-59 games)

2. THE PITT (golobos.com)--81% winning percentage (Longest winning streak-41 games)

3. Marriot Center- According to BYUCougars.com- 78% winning percentage (Longest winning streak-53 games)

It's the Thomas and Mack- Better winning %, Longest winning streak. Rick Pitino, Billy Packer, and his CBS night-time Saturday Game of Week--who officially gave the UNLV crowd at the T&M Center the MVP award honors when UNLV upset #2 Temple.--For the first, and only time in the history of televised College basketball. Nothing Tim Miles of CSU can top that.

This could easily be a poll on which team would enjoy the biggest advantage should the conference tournament be played on their home court!

I'm going to sum up the logic of the BYU fans today as the following: BYU loses after their fans have been claiming supreme conference ownership for weeks and now they are having trouble dealing with it.

I think deep down they know their basketball program is slowly taking a back seat in the conference to two other teams, just like in football, only this time it's basketball and it's to UNLV and UNM.

.

BYU has been dominant in MWC basketball for 3 years straight, and the closest UNLV or UNM has gotten to us has been this year. But if NIT teams making fun BYU losing in the first round makes them feel better... whatever.

Btw, all of BYU football's conference titles would beg to differ with you as well. And Utah? We've finished ahead of them every year the past 5 years except for last season. Do I need to remind you which teams faired better this year between the two of them? And TCU managed to beat us out by 1 win. You are delusional as they come.

BYU = Mid-Major powerhouse
UNLV = The reason we are a "mid-major"

That is a reality, and everyone outside of our conference will be the first to tell you.

Kind of hard to be a mid major powerhouse when you hold the NCAA record for consecutive losses in the NCAA tourney and that record is a current record. And you think rebel fans are delusional. You are truly clueless.

The sad thing here is even during our worst years we have still done more for MWC basketball than BYU has ever done including their best years.
I don't think a sweet 16 is all that much of an accomplishment, but it is more than BYU has done.

No we are saying that we care about how we do on a National scale. A MWC title is peanuts compared to what NCAA tourney win does for recruits and money.

I miss the days when the Utes were really good, and they had a good national status because of their NCAA tourney wins and they were fun to root for in the NCAAs. They were a good indicator in the conference of where UNLV was nationally.

Actually u got it wrong there bud, is it dyslexia or the freon u are inhaling?
UNLV is the last team from this conference to do anything of national merit, and the ONLY team to hang a banner in the modern era. UNLV is mentioned with the Duke's, UNC's, Kentucky's, UCLA's, Georgetown's of the world...
UNLV #8

BYU is mentioned with the College of Charleston's, Butler's, Western Kentucky's of the world.
BYU #45

now don't cry yet your archrival Utah is also head and shoulders above.. they get mentioned with the Gonzaga's, Ohio St's, Michigan's, and Florida's of the world
Utah #24

Thats all according to the
'experts' at ESPN have a nice regular season sweetheart.

I agree. We need UNM and Utah to step it up nationally because we know for sure BYU is just an eyesore come March. I would love it if Utah, UNM, and UNLV were all consistently ranked in the top 30. It would do a lot for this conference. Here's to hoping Utah can get back to where they once were.

I think SDSU is a coach away from being real good. It's a big time destination with a small time coach. They should get rid of that bum Fisher and go after somebody like Steve Lavin.

I really think you would be singing a diferent tune if you team had anything but a couple of tournament wins to show for themselves.

Fact is conference championships do matter. POY award do matter and tournament wins also matter. BYU has lost a bunch of tournament games in a row and that hurts but to pretend that the only thing that matters is a tournament wins is just stupid.

I'd be wanting Kruger gone without those wins. I guess I will have to live with being stupid for feeling that way.

Speak for yourself as I can PROMISE you people on our side of the map think BYU is one of the BIGGEST jokes in basketball PERIOD! I know many people from UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, Duke & Clemson & it's shared by ALL. You may not want to believe it, but UNLV still gets a lot of respect over here even when they were down. BYU gets respect over here for football & gets laughed at for basketball. Really dude get real & quit making it worse than it is.

Win a game when it counts & the country is watching them maybe you can say something. Utah & UNLV have done something BYU has done NOTHING!

Finally a fan from outside the MWC! Now BYU fans can stop telling everybody what they think (or want) the country to see them as on a National level. How's that humble pie taste Zoobies?

I gotta say The Pit. I caught most of the game in The Pit yesterday, and the last part at home. I don't think I've heard a crowd sound as loud on TV as when DJ Gay was shooting those free throws at the end.
