Bingo-- This might as well be a poll counting which of the three fanbases have the most fans posting here.. Is this a carry on thread from the last one discussing this? I'll post the evidence here as well.. The proof is in the numbers in where the harder place to play is:
1.Thomas and Mack Center(unlvrebels.cstv.com)- 83% winning percentage (Longest winning streak-59 games)
2. THE PITT (golobos.com)--81% winning percentage (Longest winning streak-41 games)
3. Marriot Center- According to BYUCougars.com- 78% winning percentage (Longest winning streak-53 games)
It's the Thomas and Mack- Better winning %, Longest winning streak. Rick Pitino, Billy Packer, and his CBS night-time Saturday Game of Week--who officially gave the UNLV crowd at the T&M Center the MVP award honors when UNLV upset #2 Temple.--For the first, and only time in the history of televised College basketball. Nothing Tim Miles of CSU can top that.

Don't worry, that % will be down a little after tomorrow

Either way, I look forward to it!--Obviously I think UNLV wins.. but maybe BYU will get revenge from the beating UNLV gave them at the Mariott Center last year..But probably not

You ever stop to think about why that might be? UNLV has been playing at the T&M since 1983 going 296-61. UNM has been at The Pit (notice how there is one t, as we are not Pittsburgh) since 1966 going 598-142. The Lobos have been at The Pit for 17 more years than the Rebs at the T&M. Including the Friscilla/McKay years where we could lose as often as win at home. The extra 17 years coupled with mediocre to bad teams explains the 2 point difference in the winning percentages.
With all that being said, I greatly enjoy attending games at the T&M when in Vegas for the tourney. Its a great building for basketball. An 82.9 winning percentage is to be applauded for sure, that's nothing to sneeze at.
One question, have you ever been to a Pit game?

Same could be said for UNLV-- Thomas and Mack saw most of its games post-Glory days..17 years of meltdown (Thanks to Maxson sabotaging Rebel BB).. The Convention Center had a even more imposing winning % (around .851) thanks in part to the teams of the 70s and 80s. Both teams have seen its share of mediocre teams over many years(see 1992-2006)--That's no excuse. That's why its calculated by winning % and not overall record--Every team has its down years. By the way, to answer your question, yes I have made it down to the Pit in 2003 (if memory serves the Rebels drummed the Lobos by 10 points)

In order to do this I really think there was a difference between the T&M when tark was in town and now. It's has it's flashes of glory but the game being over before the firework show ended was something for even a new fan to see. That to me will always be how I remember games in the T&M and that to me makes it the toughest. I think the pit in it's current form is tough for the noise level but I think the tradition and everything added in I'd have to give it to the rebels. However I'm a rebel's fan so I'm obvious bias I would like to see this question asked to the non 3 participants fans and see who says what.

Basketball:
NCAA Championship: 1 (1990)
Final Four's : 4 (1977, 1987, 1990, 1991)
Elite Eights: 5 (1977, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991)
Top 5 All time winning percentage.
Current leader in streak for most games with a concencutive 3 point field goal.
Football:
Undefeated in bowls (3-0)

Post glory?
UNLV (Years at T&M bolded):
NCAA Tournament appearances 1975, 1976, 1977, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1998, 2000, 2007, 2008
Sweet Sixteen 1975, 1976, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 2007
Elite Eight 1977, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991
Final Four 1977, 1987, 1990, 1991
NCAA Tournament champions 1990
Doesn't look like post glory to me, in fact the only real lapses I see are '92-'97 (NIT in '93 and '97) and '01-'06 (NIT in '02 and '03).
Let me put it this way, postseason visits don't constitute a meltdown. Talk to me when you go 4-12 in conference (and still average 12,853 fans a game).

That's another interesting point.. I'd like to see some more SDSU, Wyoming, CSU, and Utah's POV.
To add on to the firework show you mentioned. When the firework show/announcement was new, Utah's Rick Majerus said he wouldn't even bring his team out to the court until the firework show was over due to the intimidation factor it played on his team. Many coaches did the same.

Gotta agree here, it really all comes down to what year you are talking about and how the home team is doing that year. All three arenas have great traditions.

Up until about 6 years ago I'd have to insist on including the AA on this list as well. Its all relevant to the times.

And the Huntsman. I remember when the Pokes beat the runner up Utes in the AA and when it was called the Dome of Doom. Hopefully Shroyer (sp=bad) or someone else will figure it out soon.
I hope Dave Christensen hates CSU's football team.

BYU's road record vs. MWC opponents. (last 5 years)
UNLV 0-6* <includes 2 MWCt games
Utah 2-2
SDSU 2-3
New Mexico 3-2
Colorado State 3-1
Air Force 4-1
TCU 4-0
Wyoming 4-0
So it would seem that at least for BYwho the T&M is the toughest place to play in the league.

2010 (year to date):
Team Road/ Home
BYU. .2. . .0
UNLV .2. . .2
UNM. .2. . .1
2009
BYU. .6. . .2
UNLV .8. . .2
UNM. .10. . 2
2008
BYU. .8. . .0
UNLV .6. . .1
UNM. .7. . .2
2007
BYU. .9. . .0
UNLV .5. . .1
UNM. .13 . .4
2006
BYU. .8. . .1
UNLV .8. . .5
UNM. .11 . .2
Total road/ home/ % of losses happen at home
BYU. .33 . .3 . . . . .8.33%
UNLV .29 . .11. . . . .27.5%
UNM. .43 . .11. . . . .20.37%
Note: I tried to count neutral site games as away since they were not in the friendly confines. For some of them, I had to go off of memory as to whether they were home or away- so I may be slightly off. I have no adjustments for schedule strength.
Over the last 5 years when I have been paying attention, the biggest home court difference has been for BYU. I don't know enough to go back more than that, and don't want to go through the effort to research it- but I do know BYU suffered through some bad seasons (a 1 win season where home court made no difference and two 9 win seasons where it probably made minimal difference).
I agree that it depends on the strength of the team playing there at the time, but under coach Rose I give the nod to BYU.

I bet those figures are quite different if you look at recent history - i.e. last 5 years, since 2000, or since formation of the MWC. The Marriot Center has been the toughest venue since formation of the MWC.
