Current Massey Ratings...
2013 MWC Ratings
USU - 41
SJSU - 45
Nevada - 52
FSU - 56
AFA - 63
Hawaii - 82
WYO - 92
CSU - 105
UNM - 113
UNLV - 116
Other MWC Notables
BSU - 19
TCU - 21
BYU - 34
UU - 39
SDSU - 62
Wait a minute!
I thought USU and SJSU were not good enough for this league and that they were just going to be more dead weight dragging the conference downward!
Right now, the Massey composite rating puts them at the top (considering lame duck status of the Broncos and Aztecas) and they have not even joined yet.
I really believe that being in this much better league for a few years is going to pay big dividends for SJSU and USU.
As a league and as a good solid group of similar regional schools with shared interests and a huge shared stake in the future of the MWC, I sure would like to see the bottom half of this league build itself up.
If we could improve the rankings of the bottom half of the league by 20 or 30 points, this would be a very healthy and much better funded league.
This league would be on par with the Big East and much much better than CUSA or MAC.
What if the following could happen?
Hawaii: Move from 82 to 57
WYO: Move from 92 to 67
CSU: Move from 105 to 80
UNM: Move from 113 to 87
UNLV: Move from 116 to 91
Moves of 20 - 30 points can happen pretty quickly at the lower end of the rankings. Let's go MWC!

get back to me at the end of the year after your moral victory points have been exhausted.
I'll get back to you on Saturday night when Sparta beats your Aztecs, again.

Im all for them joining and glad they are but come on... its barely week 4. For once I am going to agree with Kyjames and say wait alittle bit longer, before the chest thumping.
Some of you (like KYJames) only understand chest thumping. The point of my post is that we need to get the bottom of the league rising up.

Umm... Read your entire first post again...
You start off with
"Wait a minute!

The line of you calling out the Broncos and Aztecas lame duck status, blurs your "point". If you had left that out, I would say then yearh it come be argued that its about the bottom of the league needs rising up.

Nobody's chest thumping, just fooling around with our upcoming foes. There's a big difference.

He was chest thumping but that is no crime..USU is off to a great start and so is SJSU. I am happy to see it.
If you're referring to me, no it wasn't. When I want your worthless opinion I'll beat it out of your potato head.

Then, let's really work together to bring a consistency of purpose and tactics to continue to develop the league's reputation and revenue generation.
It's great to me that Utah State and SJSU are doing well. But I really really want to see a league where all the programs grow to be Top 75 programs. If we can do that everyone will benefit from much better SOS and the league's top teams will easily be Top 25 caliber.

BSU - 19
SUDS - 62
UCF - 72
SMU - 81
Houston - 102
Memphis - 120
Avg. Massey Ranking for these 6 teams = 76
Now let's look at the 2013 MWC 10 Teams
USU - 41
Nev - 52
SJSU - 45
FSU - 56
AFA - 63
Hawaii - 82
WYO - 92
CSU - 105
UNM - 113
UNLV - 116
Avg. Massey Ranking for these 6 teams = 76.5
Is the western wing of the nBE really a better home for BSU/SUDS? I'm just not seeing it. I suppose the proof will be whether or not the TV $$ comes together.

What you have to remember is that the Big East is not going to be having a western wing. If they do split into divisions, it will be a similar format to what the ACC and Big 10 are doing. Boise State and San Diego State will be in different divisions. The only way to compare the two is to list the ratings of the entire conference.Just for fun, let's take a look at Massey Composite ratings for the 6 teams going to the nBE.
BSU - 19
SUDS - 62
UCF - 72
SMU - 81
Houston - 102
Memphis - 120
Avg. Massey Ranking for these 6 teams = 76

I was simply comparing the teams that the nBE was able to convince to join to what BSU and SUDS kicked to the curb.
If you compare the list of who will be in the two leagues after all of the changes have taken place and you don't include BSU or SUDS in either group, here is what you have.
nBE Teams Avg. Massey Rating = 73.7
MWC Teams Avg. Massey Rating = 76
It just seems like an awful lot of trouble to pick up an average bump of two spots in the ranking order.

Funny coming from the guy who is always making blanket statements that teams in this conference aren't making a committment to football like SDSU has.Until you consider the ratings for the ENTIRE 2011 season, just GTFOOH with your inferiority complex.

You might be better basing all decisions off of one game that was a blow out in your teams favor. Totally representative of the season and you can make a ton of money using that to make large bets in vegas.

Aw, look. Aggie fans making friends...
Nothing like the "new guys" telling everyone else all they need to do in order to make the conference better.
Why does BYU care? Y'all have been gone from the MWC for a season and a half. Focus on your team and what they are doing.
I know it is not part of the BYU "Big Fish in the Small Pond" mentality. BYU always look out for their own interenst while stabbing your conference mates (and anyone else) in the back. However, I like to believe that the new MWC actually has a great core of programs that do want to work together toward shared growth and success.
To steal a phrase from BYU, the best way to improve the MWC overall is for the lower half of the league to "Rise Up".
There is no reason that programs like UNM, CSU, WYO, and UNLV can not be very competititive "top 50" kinds of programs year in and year out.
Spin it however you want, These teams improve and the league improves greatly. How does that hurt my team?
