UNLV & SDSU should be really good. Top 10 good! UNLV has a monster recruiting class coming in which as a Florida fan you probably know that by know since you guys were in the running for Khem Birch and Anthony Bennett. Colorado State should have a very good squad this year and Newcomer Nevada has a pretty legit squad as well. New Mexico is always really good and almost unbeatable at the Pit.So that is a pretty good conference. 6 teams with 20+ wins from last year, then you have Fresno, Air Force and Boise.

Yeah, UNLV gets a lot of respect from me. Great program, especially considering you guys aren't in a "power" conference. San Diego is a fun team to watch, Coach Fisher is one of the great coaches in Basketball and I like to see them do well. Other than that I don't really know much about the other teams other than last years record in all honesty.UNLV & SDSU should be really good. Top 10 good! Look for Colo. St to have a really tough team this year. Should be top 25 IMO.

We have some down years but we are looking to get back to being the Runnin Rebels. We have all the right pieces and the right coaches to be top 10 program year in year out. You guys had a real good recruiting class also. Maybe we will meet in the NCAA's Good luck to you Gators!Yeah, UNLV gets a lot of respect from me. I was reading a little more about the New MWC, you guys are getting Utah State? That's a good pick up imo. They go to the Big Dance pretty regularly, not bad. How many bids do you think to pull next year? Three?
Well Utah State is a fine addition, but the MW will take a BIG hit with the departure of Boise State to the Big West!

Didn't every team last year have a winning record until about the 3rd conference game?I don't think I'm exagerating when I say the MWC in basketball this year will be leaps and bounds ahead of football. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they could in theory be in the top 3 or 4. It'll be hard with new addition Fresno who is rebuilding but I would not be the least bit surprised to see every team in the conference AFA included come out of OOC with a winning record.

I watched a number of Fresno games last year and they have, in my opinion, a great coach and many of the pieces in place to do really well in this and coming years. There's a lot of heart there to go along with some serious skills and athleticism. I agree they're rebuilding, but don't be surprised to be a little surprised.

Donovan is a good coach tho.
Like Philip said, great regular season conference, tough to win on the road but we haven't been doing much come March unfortunately.

The conference has been good in the regular season for a while but....
But we have shat the bed in the tourney. The two names (SDSU, and especially the rebs) that everyone is got expectations for have done an amazing job to shore up weaknesses. UNLV got that monster recruiting class, and you know Dave is going to ensure that they will be mentally prepared for road games. They may drop one (maybe two at home), but they won't have the same road issues. SDSU needed size in the paint. They didn't improve too much in the height numbers, but the talent level improved. Now they also have the bench weapons that were sorely missed last season. CSU will still be a major factor, especially at home. And never count out UNM, they lost Gordon, but they had decent recruiting and perhaps the overall team picks up. Gonna make a fun season, for sure. Good potential for a decent run for my Aztecs, and the pressure is on for the rebs to go deep. Can't wait.

While I agree, it is going to be a hard argument to make with the schedules most teams put together. UNM's is the strongest overall, but lacks solid marquee games, and SDSU and UNLV have a couple marquee games surrounded by cupcake city.
With the conf being as good as it is likely to be next year, it's going to be tough to counter the overrated arguments when our top teams inevitably fall on the road to teams like WYO or UNR. Unless of course SDSU and UNLV win their marquee games OOC.
I wouldn't sleep on Fresno either. They have the raw talent there to make some noise if they can put it together.
And I will say we once again get four bids to the dance.

Uh...good news. SDSU did improve height. The Aztecs had 3 regulars, 1 starter 6'7 or taller with our starting 5 at 6'7. This year's team has 5 players taller than 6'8 including James Johnson at 6'11. That means we do not have to have our 6'5 swingman playing PF next year.
