Wow the PAC 12 is really missing out by not inviting the "Harvard of the West".
Exactly 50% of the time over the last 42 years as a 4 year school, BSU football has had a 10 or more wins in a season. The 9 win season your team is proud of is a failure at BSU.

At least that give them a chance to stay FBS in the meantime and if it doesn't work, then its and easy transition to bring their football to the Big Sky.

You're living in your own Private Idaho
Living in your own Private Idaho
Underground like a wild potato.
Don't go on the patio.
Beware of the pool,
blue bottomless pool.
It leads you straight
right throught the gate
that opens on the pool.
You're living in your own Private Idaho.
You're living in your own Private Idaho.

Keep off the path, beware the gate,
watch out for signs that say "hidden driveways".
Don't let the chlorine in your eyes
blind you to the awful surprise
that's waitin' for you at
the bottom of the bottomless blue blue blue pool.

Does this mean that New Mexico State is favored to win the WAC in 2013?

So what's the plan? If they can make enough $ playing body bag games, maybe they can get a decent stadium and join MWC?

In my lifetime, the Bulldogs have been to 19 bowl games. They are 9 and 10 with wins agains the likes of USC, Georgia Tech (twice), University of Virginia, and UCLA.

During the same timeframe the Aztecs have been to 6 bowl games. They are 1-5 they have losses to such powerhouses as Tulsa, Navy and....wait for it....University of Lousiana LaFayette Ragin Cajuns

A team that makes a decision that actually makes sense; and isn't being dictated by their conference. What a concept. Good for you Idaho. You now get to control your future. After Utah, BYU, and TCU decided to leave, and the rumor (turned fact) that TheMTN network was dissolving; I was really hoping that about half of the remaining MWC teams would have gone indy. They could have arranged scheduling agreements with each other and basically had similar expenses and futures. The only advantage to not going indy was that some of the schools end up with a better tv contract. UNM, UNLV, and even UW and CSU probably wouldn't be able to pull off a $3 million per year tv contract.

But for Idaho; good for them. I hope they take control over their program and their own future. No reason to let the WAC take them all the way down. There is no future in the WAC. Best to you if you decide to go indy.

Tough luck for the vandals. I hope after the whole BE west thing shakes out they get an invite to the MWC.

Exactly.

This is the right move. The MWC losing additional schools is still a possibility. If that happens the Vandals just might get the invitation.

At least the Administration can say that did all they could.

Wow... best of luck to them. I wonder why the Big Sky would allow them to not do all sports but wouldn't with Boise?

Good for them. Although I personally think they would be too much of a drag on the MWC, I certainly want them to stay FBS. While not anywhere ear world beaters, IMHO they've earned it enough on the field since coming up. They did win an exciting bowl game, beat and played competitive with plenty of MWC, MAC.and WAC schools.

If Idaho goes Indy NMSU doesn't have a choice unless the SBC changes it's mind and takes them back.

Give it a shot.
I think they'll need the NCAA to give them a waiver though, for 2013. I have a hard time believing Idaho will be able to put together a home schedule that meets FBS requirements.
