I've never run into that issue....but I believe you're supposed to. Something like $5-$10.

I used to work for tips and anything is appreciated. I delivered pizza to get through college and stuff, and it's actually a pretty easy job where you can make a decent amount of money.

I tip the haircut lady, people in restaurants, etc.

I don't generally tip when I take my car INTO a shop but since they are coming to my work that feels a little different.....

People tip too much. You have to tip the maid, the doorman, the garbage man, the pest control guy, the taxi driver, the pizza guy, etc. I dont mind tipping for good service but people have come to expect it for mundane tasks.
Dang doorman at the hyatt regency in Greenwich, CT made double what I did, and then he was expecting a tip from me. I told the guy I can open my own door

If we took all the money people needlessly tip, and pool it together we could get the vandals on tv

If it's a service, tip.

LOL man...most Wyoming fans make more in a month than you will in a year.

Back to the topic, yeah I'd probably tip the window guy. I tip when appropriate, the hair cutting lady, pizza man, etc..

I would say no on the surface............if his job description is ON SITE winshield repair then no...............now if this was a special trip out of his way, tossing him some gas $$ might be cool, especially if your auto insurance is covering most of the costs.

I gnerally only tip at restaurants where there are waiters (not fast food) and haircuts/similar services...........but I don't tip repairment who's job it is to come to you/your residence etc.

Not that you can't give the guy a $5/10 and tell him to get a beer on you!

Most times I would agree....but if the on site person is charging the same as going to a shop then I think a 5 or 10 spot is totally legit. You save time, taking off work and your own gas.

If it's 10-20 more than you going to a place then, no, don't tip. And if they raise a stink, throw the prices in their face.

Nothing to really say here.....except GO MWC!!

I bartended for awhile so I am pro tipping however pizza places have me confused. First I tip 20% + depending however pizza places hire these guys and have them drive their own cars. They then add a "delivery" fee of 2.00 plus to the price which does not go to the driver who delivered my pizza. With the % of pizzas they sell for delivery vs dine in/carryout I would think it's the price of doing business and it's kinda bush league to add some kind of tax.

If they charge a delivery fee....you factor the gratuity into that. So pay the balanc of the total purchase so the fee is included. If you get an F-d up look, gently explain to the delivery person that they can get the balance of the gratuity from their employer.

BTW, I survived on tips in college, so I'm not a cheap bastard....but I know what good service is. If you don't have it, you don't get the 20%....if it's "meh," they get 15.....if it's less than desirable then it's 10%.....if I want to punch you in the face because you are totally inept, then I'm giving you 5% and I'm asking for the manager. If it's been exemplary then I've been known to drop 30% (but you better be giving me a rub down with my dinner B) )

Nothing to really say here.....except GO MWC!!

There's a huge markup on Pizza.......between what it costs in materials and what they charge.

Pretty much most italian food has a good profit margin..........just boil some noodles and slap some sauce on it and charge $15 for a plate of spaghetti.

I know a guy who owns a restaurant here in Henderson and he says a large pie maybe costs $1.15 (this was a few years ago) and he gets $13 for it.............of course lot's of other costs are buried on the prices..............but a simple take out operation should do pretty good if they do a good voulmn of pies.

Definitely agree....suckers expect a tip for everything....bartender turns around and gives you a beer and some tip??? with the markup on beer???? very very rarely do I ever get a tip and don't expect one....It's my job. Why should I support them....let the employer give them a better wage.

I will say this: Probably no place in the US of A has as extensive tip based economy as the Las Vegas area...........everyone seems to have a hand out and word spreads fast on who tips and who doesn't...........tight celebrities have even made a gossip column in the newspaper when they don't tip or heaven forbid STIFF someone on the strip.

I agree.............take a buffet in Vegas..........you get sat down by the hostess, then the waitress comes by & takes your drink order...........if you are a small party of one or two you might not see her again unless she refills a drink or picks up a dirty plate........I don't drop $3-5 there, it's a buck fifty to ninety depending on the losse change in my pocket.

Another thing is if I sit at a bar for more than a drink or two, I wait and tip at the end not on every cocktail.

I'm generally a good tipper. But it drives me nuts when their is a tip line on the invoice at fast food joints. All the person did was take my order and hand over my food. No way am I going to give them a tip for thier 30 seconds of attention.

Last night I was at the mall. I stopped at a sunglass kiosk and the guy manning it had a tip jar. Why would the sunglass guy expect a tip?

On a recent weekend trip...usually only tip at restaurants and occasionally at bars

There was a tip envelope for the motel room housekeepers..This place was a very clean mom & pop so I did put a few bucks in. Last time I saw that was on a Disney cruise, The tip there was expected to be a hundred or so, w/ a gun to your head.

Also left a tip at a Chinese buffet where everything was fresh (even after 8pm) and the service was very well done

Who tips the garbage man???

I would say 80 percent of the people I know tip the garbage man. The garbage man I have even leaves a christmas card on our bin every year. The card has a nice picture of his family and tells me how they have progressed throughout the year. He is totally solicting tips.

I usually put a nice letter on the bin explaining to him, if he actually got out of the truck and had to empty the bin into the truck, instead of hitting a button to pick it up and dump the bin, I might feel compelled to give him a tip.

Just trying to help a brother out. The doorman can fend for himself. The vandals need some help though
