  1. I've noticed people started mentioning Rice because PAC4 said they were interested in them (for academics). I would hope MWC would not go after them. Try for 2 of UTEP/UTSA/UNT or bust. Memphis/Tulane won't join MWC and they would have to bring some serious bump in $$ to offset the travel costs. Plus why would they? They probably control AAC now, so its gotta be P4 type money to get to peak their interest. Getting into Texas specifically would be worth it though. Side note, I really wish they'd bring back divisions.
  2. cut him some slack, hes probably reading it on his cell phone at waffle house
  3. i would love it! should have always been that way
  4. I didn't realize we were back to a one bid league.. don't sprain your shoulder too much patting yourself on the back.
  5. If I remember correctly their niche is vet stuff..? But man diff eq was freaking hard at my university, not sure how they could make that subject cake. Think you're just smart dude.
  6. "Not in the top 4 but with BB/FB will be the clear 5th representing regions and territories not otherwise represented." Reading is hard.. There will be 4 power conferences left, so he's effectively saying MWC will be the strongest conference not named B10/SEC/B12/ACC.
  7. It is their last resort but they don't have any other option. B12 is waiting for ACC to implode to poach. But ACC will take longer than the two year grace period P12 has. Unless they want to try indy which they don't have the fan base for and the unknown timeline would be playing with financial fire. The MWC per-team buyout is too much for P12 to afford. It's an all or nothing deal at this point. I'd like to have them join, but I more want the MWC to stick together. They would make us better but them not coming doesn't hurt our current position.
  8. I know it's a business and all but man I really wish there was some kind of gentlemens agreement on at least 2 years before bouncing to a new job. Sorry ags, he was a good one.
  9. Alford averages 5 years per school almost like clockwork. He's not the type to stick around, I'm sure UNR is prepared
  10. $50 million won't make it very far. WSU has $240 million athletic debt and OSU $58 million in athletic debt. WSU currently pays $10 million a year just on debt interest alone. That's not including current P12 lawsuits and operating expenses. Unless the state of Washington bails out WSU athletics, I'm not sure they can afford to join MWC.
  11. Okay.. they're not a juggernaut anymore. It's not all or nothing. Several power rankings have them 3rd-4th strongest bball conference.
  12. Is BE a power conf in bball? I see no reason why the MWC cannot build itself into the BE of the west in hoops. We definitely have the best collective venues in the west. With all the uncertainty and massive disparity in CFB, I would not be surprised if MWC schools that have historically prio'd fball have been diverting more athletic budget % to bball than previously. But it doesn't happen overnight or even within just a few years. It's a multi-year institution/conference transition. The CFB playoffs were a great idea until they unveiled that B10/SEC are getting 60% of the revenue and massive increase in payout. And that's all guaranteed money if I recall, so there's not a lot of incentive to perform frankly. Other than our conference media rights deal coming up.
  13. You're right, because Steve Nash went through a WCC school in the 90s the conference will never be ass again
