  1. Then you’re killing a not-insignificant part of what gives the NCAA tournament its appeal: the opportunity for every team in Division I, no matter how remote, to win a national championship. A big part of the first weekend of the tournament is seeing the little guys getting their shot. The Belmont’s, the Loyola-Chicago’s, the George Mason’s going on a run ignite way, way more conversation than a pedestrian-at-best NC State or Indiana, who cannot even muster a .500 league record, getting a third chance to do anything. One of the least exciting things about the first round is seeing two utterly mediocre power conference at-large teams squaring off in a 7-10 or 8-9 game. Yawn. If you want to limit the tournament to just the top conferences, then let them peel away and do their own thing. I’m not filling out a bracket for that, or watching much of it other than the very top 3-4 teams play. As for the NIT, I’d be ok with going to 40 or 48 so that each conference can have at least one team in, but 64 isn’t needed.
  2. Ha! Take the stairs, coz.
  3. Pokes have their work cut out for them October 6th in Honolulu
  4. The NCAA rules for reporting official attendance (as in, what's reported to the NCAA, not what's announced) stipulate that a school cannot count any ticket given away or sold to the general public for less than 1/3 of the face value of the cheapest ticket available to the general public for that particular game. For example, if School X hosts School Y, and the cheapest ticket available to the general public is $42, then any ticket given away or sold for less than $14 cannot be counted towards the official attendance.
  5. So, for every $100K y'all come up short in debt service annually, you'll only need to book 44 weddings and/or holiday parties at the max $2,300 rate to make it up.
  6. So cute to still see folk here who think the P5 will expand their ranks beyond the current 65 schools in that club.
  7. Good grief, crazy game. Just got back from the A-A. Hats off to Fresno and Deshon Taylor. Kid refused to go down quietly. Thumbs down to the refs. Waaaaayy too many whistles. Loved to see McManamen get his stroke back.
  8. Not for this move. This was all part of the plan to get a second team to rent Kroenke's new stadium in Inglewood. They granted Spanos first option to move, no strings attached. All he had to do was decide to move. Read an article this morning that indicated maybe the rest of the NFL owners were going to try to convince Spanos to not move, as the Rams didn't exactly set the world on fire ratings or attendance-wise this season, but they had no way to stop him.
  9. This. Last time CONEXPO and the MWC Tournament shared the same week was 2008 and rooms were ridiculous that year, too. This year, it's forced the MWC to house all the teams at the Hard Rock, with the Rio being the media hotel. Going forward, if NM, UNLV, SDSU and Wyoming have good squads, the crowds will be just fine. Wyoming usually travels pretty good for the MWCT. Not in NM numbers, but we represent just fine.
  10. This is how we open 2017: @ Iowa, then home against Oregon. We don't do ourselves any favors. However, y'all know a thing or two about beating Oregon at home we could learn from.
  11. Well, the all time series is still 1-10 against us.
  12. I'm not seeing it. You don't think it gets them to close ranks and go on a scorched earth campaign?
  13. Where? On the Islands? I'm not seeing it.
  14. I definitely took it to mean it was worse in terms of opportunity lost as a result.
