Eustachy thinks Rams will contend for MW title next season

Recommended Posts

I would've rather kept Dwight Smith over bringing in another player to play one season.

Nah, Dwight is realistically a 5 and 3 player at best. If that

We've got the potential to bring in a BIG TIME guard from possibly a big conference

It will be interesting to see how the 3 small schools transfers adjust to a higher level of play, John Gillon seems like a sharp shooter, shot 39% from 3 and 82% from FT line. Dantiel Daniels seems like a very undersized 4 that can't shoot or rebound that well. Stanton Kidd should be the best of the bunch, averaged 14.5/6.9 coming from juco, that is very hard to do on any level.

Idk who yet, but I'm sure we'll be able to attract someone good

Stanton Kidd played d1 at NC central. He score like 30 pts against Wichita the year they made the final four!

Yeah my wording made it weird, just saying the numbers he put up at D1 level is impressive first year from juco, usually takes a bit too adjust.

Until all the rosters are filled it is too early to see who looks the best for next season.  SDS will be fine and New Mexico still has 2 scholarships to fill and if they land Jordan Goodman the Lobos could be right back in the thick of the conference race.  UNLV is loaded but from past experience that has not turned into championships so maybe Rice finally figures out how to use all that talent.  CSU looks good as well but let's wait till September-November  before we get serious about seeing who will have the target on their back.

Very well said.  Too many unknowns at this point in time.  CSU will be better, no doubt, but hard to say they will be leaps and bounds better with so many unknowns.  They very well could be but they could also be about the same or just slightly better.  UNM will be fine.  They lost a ton but they tend to always be in the conference race.  SDSU has already reloaded.  I would be confident in saying at this point they will still be the team to beat.  UNLV......well......how can so many McDonald's All Americans not win anything?  Recruiting has never been the issue.

If he's healthy, Kidd will be CSU's best player next year. He would have been the Pre-Season MEAC Player of the Year last season if he hadnt transferred from NC Central. He came to CSU to get the opportunity to develop his face up game. NC Central didn't have a lot of bigs and he was forced to playing out of position in the post.

Pierce Hornung has played against all of these guys and he told me Kidd was better than any of them including Bejarano and Avila.

I went to basketball camp a couple of times in the early 90s up in Moscow when Eustachy was coaching the Vandals and he was awesome. I hated the U of I back then but always respected him as a coach and a person. Sure he made a bad choice in Ames but who hasn't made mistakes? All he's done is win wherever he's coached. Players love giving it all for that guy.

Wait, the coach of a team thinks said team will contend for the MWC title? Shocking!

Seriously. If your coach doesn't expect his team to compete for a title, then he shouldn't expect to have a job for very long.

I think, therefore I'm.
