Nevada's Burton Nominated for Dunk of the Year

Recommended Posts

The monster dunk vs BSU was the best dunk I've seen in a few years in both college and pro. He should win it.

Oops, I meant the dunk in Vegas. Although both were great dunks, the one in Vegas should win it.

i watched all these dunks, alot of them twice...but the only one i watched 4 or 5 times (again) was burton's at unlv. i think it was more impressive because of the oop, and like sig said, we all thought there was no way he had a shot...when he threw that down i actually stood up and cheered, what entertainment! and then, when he did that one in boise, i thought THAT one was better...but it's got to be the one in vegas.

The dunk by Young in the national title game gets my vote as best.

I haven't looked at the nominations, but I would agree.  He had another one in a previous tournament game that was very similar.  Not everybody can just go through guys that are hanging on you to dunk over them.

I could easily see Young's winning it.   Really impressive that he still managed to throw it down with authority, with two players draped all over him.

Burton's dunk @ Vegas was more about pure athleticism and amazing body control, but in the end seems like people get more excited about power dunks.

the young dunk has a lot of positives going for it; the stage the game was being played on, going through 2 guys, and the fact that one of the UConn defenders gets his hand on the ball but young still gets it to the hoop.  i also like the oop dunk by Burton (i hate saying that too) but it probably will finish in 3rd or 4th overall.  My other dunk i like is the very first one they show where the kid jumps to the rafters to get a rebound and puts it down.  i cant believe he got up that high.

Both of Burton's dunks advanced.

Yes, after that reaction by Bryce, I'm glad he's gone. It's ok to get upset, but get over it and start playing ball. He did this all season too. Once he was out of his game, his mind was fried and he got worse as the game went on. This happened on a regular basis.

Burton got mad hops
