2014 Watch Lists

Recommended Posts

Over the next two weeks the NCFAA is releasing its watch lists for the upcoming 2014 college football season. I'll be tracking the players from the MW that make up the various lists and posting them in this thread. I intend on listing the players by school, for each list (position), and keep a tally for the total number of players for each school. And also the full lists. Participation is greatly appreciated. I'll do my best to update this thread in a timely manner, but I will not be able to post each list immediately after its release like I have in years past. This is the schedule:

BYU has two players on the Maxwell watch list, but with our lack of relevance nationally and no MWC championship (and all-MWC honors!) to play for, it is a hollow recognition.

Why bring it up here then?

Especially since neither of the two are even close to as good as their MWC counterparts.

Here's one that's not on the traditional lists.

This award probably doesn't really fit in this particular thread, but I wanted to point out the 4th paragraph of the article.  That say's a lot for the MWC.  12.5% of the LB's on the CFPA list are in the MWC.  Pretty impressive.

The CFPA are getting more recognition with each year. It's good to see the MW players do well there.

There are other watch lists not listed in the original post as well that I may add later on.

Kivon Cartwright, Billy Freeman, and Wyatt Houston on the Mackey Award Watch List.

Nice to see.  The only RAM I really expected to make any of the above lists was Jared Roberts, our kicker.  Maybe I'm underestimating my RAMS?

When a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it; or cares...Yeah it does suck for the tree.  On the bright side all of those all Independent teams honors are so much more prestigous and difficult to garner than the MW honors.

Wow, Wyatt Houston is a huge surprise.  He did show great hands a knack for some clutch  catches and was a bright spot for the offense in the passing game at the end of the year.  His blocking really needs to step up though and I really wish he could have finished his redshirt.

Yes, if BYU only had the exposure and relevance Utah State has!

All the CVS College Sports games televised nationally!

All the pre-season watch list honors!
