2014 World Series

Recommended Posts

With the Giants victory tonight the Giants are now 9-1 in World Series games under Bruce Bochy. They've also won 7 World Series games in a row.

I have a feeling this might be like the Colorado Rockies when they made the World Series.  They won a 1 game playoff to get into the playoffs and if I am recalling correctly, they swept their way to the World Series before they were swept by the Red Sox.

Giants and Over baby...that parlay has been a lock for me lately. I had a feeling KC would be walking into a buzzsaw facing the Giants..Too much composure and experience. With Bum on they mound they just expect to win, and they do.  That 7 inning 1 ER, 6 strikeout gem by Bumgardner was actually the worst World Series start in his career (3 career W.S games, and didn't give up a single run prior to that mistake he made off Perez)

KC doesn't have the starting pitching to win this series, especially if the bats are finally heating up for the Giants who have had to rely on alternative means (passed balls, wild pitches, bunting, sacrifce, walks, etc) to score runsas opposed to getting actual hits. If they stay hot, they'll make quick work of the Royals like they did with the Tigers.

I stick by my prediction of Giants in 5. I think KC takes tomorrow and the Giants sweep at home.

Not sure about that. On nights when Bumgarner pitches, the Giants are truly great. Hopefully the momentum carries over tonight. But as good as Peavy has been, he is no Bumgarner. We'll see. One thing is certain. If the Royals want to pull this off they are going to have to play worlds better than they did tonight.

If the Giants are hitting HRs he doesn't have to be.

Except, if he doesn't get out from behind the plate, he'll never last that long.

The thing is he is also a very good catcher. He'll move eventually, but it is hard to give up on a better-than-average backstop.

the one and only gripe I have about last night game is that Flannery needs to put up the stop sign for Ronald "Buster" Nemiah at 3rd base.

Flannery is a sensational 3rd base coach, but latetly he's had some WTF moments with Posey rounding 3rd.

Third time this postseason Buster has been thrown out. Though, to be fair, I see why he sent him last night. But Aoki played the carom perfectly and the Royals executed the relay to perfection.

Sending Buster had me screaming at the TV. But that's kind of how the Giants play.

They are aggressive and force you to make a play. It was a near perfect relay that got Buster. If they hadn't of made two good throws after cleanly fielding a bounce off the wall, Buster would have scored.

I like the aggressive nature, but even if that throw was 5 feet off of home plate, the catcher would have had time to tag Posey.  Go ahead and send Perez, Blanco, Pence or Crawford in that situation, just not Posey.

Aoki did play the carom nicely and as Harold Reynolds said in the booth...........the ball died & didn't roll very far from Aoki.........had Aoki had to chase the ball a few more steps Posey probably scores .

This. Posey runs only marginally faster than Benji Slowina.
