  1. Yeah, that was my point when I said "go figure". We're all world beaters in April. However, I'll take it over "we got a shot", or "we're getting there". Those have been the mantra's coming out of spring camp at CSU lately. When I talk about JN changing the culture, that's part of what I'm talking about. We're becoming a player led team with confidence. I'm not buying that we're going to run the MWC or even finish top 4, I am buying that we finally have a team again that believes in itself. Literally that's a huge step forward. Our #1 QB let it slip in an interview that a lot of the team thinks we're ready to "shock the world". Good for them, but show me. I can't count the number of times I've heard that, but that count is zero out of spring camp at CSU for way too long. Just excited with the change in the culture is all. Still a few more changes in order to build a champion, but I like the start.
  2. A. I 100% agree with you on his ceiling. That's exactly why he wasn't my first choice for the hire. He's moved mountains in turning around the culture of the program (and face it, he started with garbage), and has put a vastly more talented team on the field than he inherited so that's a great move forward. O-line has been the big issue, and while that is still the issue it is light years better. Still, that Air Raid offense is not going to overwhelm the MWC or any other conference for that matter. B. I didn't expect it, but there is a bit of reinventing going on. I admire that he has seen the shortfalls and addressed them. If we're to believe the comments from the players coming out of spring camp (always need to be taken with a grain of salt) CSU will be incorporating a strong running game into the Air Raid this fall. If so, then maybe we're both wrong about JN's ceiling. We'll soon see I guess.
  3. I agree. Recruiting is an issue. He was on a good roll till this NIL thing kicked. in. That's a tough one at CSU or anywhere in the MWC. It's picking up, but we're quite a ways out from the top teams still. We were in the final schools for Booth out of Notre Dame till today. CSU was the perfect landing spot for that kid, but apparently Illinois had deeper pockets. Dutcher has a huge head start on all of us, inheriting so much from Fisher and then building on it (he's making his bones on Dutcher, not Fisher, don't get me wrong). It's gonna' be tough for all of us to keep up with the P2. Really tough.
  4. Buzzkill. It was a lazy approach, but great history is still great history.
  5. Norvell needs to figure out the Norvell thing. Lots of positive comments from the players coming out of spring camp (go figure) and the team thinks this is going to be a breakout year. We'll see. WR#2 was asked to leave the team this weekend after a captain's meeting. Rumor is that he'd been too injured to practice all spring and was shopping NIL, but nobody actually knows outside of the captains and coaches. I did find it interesting that the captain's were involved. I actually think it might be a good thing. Coaches teach, but players play for each other. I like the idea that the captains are taking a role in the team makeup.
  6. Fantastic news for RAMS and the Skip Prosser Man of the Year! https://www.coloradoan.com/story/sports/csu/mens-basketball/2024/04/15/colorado-state-basketball-coach-niko-medved-signs-contract-extension/73167203007/
  7. Two different arguments. The first one is whether Jay cheated in an attempt to burn down the Nevada AD. I say no. Secondly, you maintain that CSU will fire JN. I'm not going to argue with that. He wasn't my choice in the first place and I'm still skeptical about whether he can be successful here. I really hope he is, I like the guy. Still skeptical though. I give it about a 5% chance of him getting fired after this season, regardless of results. I do think he needs this season to move on past next year though. As far as I know we just finished paying off Bobo and are still paying Addazio. I think we'll be slow to incur another buyout. Hopefully that won't be an issue. We'll see.
  8. All true. However there are financial damages done to a team that is having it's active roster recruited. I know, same with any other business. College football was never intended to be a business. Now that it most definitely is, the rules need to reflect that. Coaches can move around at will and be recruited at any time, but they have contracts with buyouts. Maybe that should apply to players as well.
  9. Two or three years of investment in scholarship, fees, training table, personal trainers, medical benefits, etc.?? Yeah, I get that's a reach. That's why we either need to get rid of NIL (never happen), or make players employees. At least make the scholly come with a contract.
  10. So, that's really dumb. First of all, there is no period whatsoever where a coach can't ask his staff to follow him to a new school. Hell, he can do that before he even applies for a new job. Secondly, you allege contact regarding following him to CSU between him and the players yet you present nothing to prove that he was the one who initiated that contact. As it stands, you just put a bunch of innuendo and platitudes on paper defaming a man without any evidence other than perhaps rumors that you choose to magnify. Norvell took his staff and accepted transfers as a personal attack on an AD??? Come on!! Norvell didn't burn that program down, but the athletic department sure as hell tried when they assumed that his success would keep him there for pennies. It's all on JN though. Got it.
  11. You know what I'd really love to see? I'd love to see one school sue another school for damages due to tampering. I'm aware of CSU players that have been contacted, but chose to stay and didn't enter the portal. I don't know who entered the portal because they already had an offer on the table, but I'm sure those exist at all of our schools. You'll never prove tampering through the NCAA process, but a lawsuit for damages resulting from tampering would have the ability to put some folks under oath. I wouldn't expect the world to suddenly get rosy, but I'd really love to see a school exposed and have to pay cash damages for cheating. It's exactly what the SEC/B1G don't want the world to see. Yeah, @NevadaFan. Even if it's UNR suing CSU.
  12. And roster? If CSU plays you guys we'll have both had a hell of a season, so not looking at matchups. I'm just wondering what you bring back on the LOS, etc. BTW, film study? Add all the wrinkles you want, but they'll just be wrinkles. Don't underestimate what a good DC can figure out when he sees the basics of your eye candy. Not saying it's a trick offense that everybody will suddenly stop, just that it was new last year and will be much more understood next year.
  13. What in the hell are you talking about. You talk like their are rules and schools follow them. Put a + or a - behind the name of every college football players ability to help a team. If there's a +, he got the numbers BEFORE he went into the portal. That is 100% the new normal.
  14. First of all...Good job Rebs!! A solid decision. Now for the questions. How's your roster looking. Conference DC's have all summer to digest what you did last year and how to counter it, so it will naturally be a tougher road. Did you improve the roster, or did some question marks get created. Honest question.
