Any interest in Utah - USC? I'm interested to see how Utah matches up with them. I also want to see if Tech gets into a shootout with TCU. Rich Rod vs The Pirate will be interesting as well.

My stepson has a YFL playoff game during that time.

My entire slate is filled with MW teams.

Start off with SJSU trying to stop Navy

Watch Hauck look like swallowed something sour for 3 hours

Then the Border War

wrap it up with the Pack shedding the island curse.

Finally get to see how good SJSU's D really is in the 10am matchup

Well, not exactly squirming here (although it probably sounds like it… okay… maybe just a little), but the SJSU defensive numbers are definitely buttressed by the pass defense, not necessarily the run defense.  The Auburn rushing attack shredded us to the tune of over 350 yards, but they only had 7 yards of passing (1 of 7 passing attempts).  I know, why would they?  Minny didn't pass much either...

As for the two MWC opponents thus far, the Spartans held Fajardo and Nevada pretty much in check to the tune of barely 250 total yards (64 passing and 192 rushing), yet an inopportune turnover in Joe Gray's 1st start (pick-6 in the 4th quarter), plus RZ issues prevented what could've (should've) been a Spartan win (446 total SJSU yards to 266 for UNR).

The Spartans defense played quite well against Wyoming, holding the 'Pokes to 277 total yards (119 passing, 158 rushing).  Moreover, most of those yards came in the 4th quarter.  1st Down differential was an astounding 31 to 11 in favor of SJSU.  To think the Spartans were a few inches away from getting beat on a late FGA shows just how badly SJSU needs to improve its scoring in the RZ (and from just outside - including FGA) and also limit very untimely mistakes (this time, a 4th quarter fumble recovery was taken to the house by a Cowboy).

All that being said, the Triple Option is daunting.  The Navy QB scored 7 TD's on SJSU last year in the Spartans 58-52 OT loss.  Obviously, nothing remotely close to that can happen again for SJSU to win.   With Greg Robinson coaching the defense, that surely won't happen - just have to limit the damage.  My homer pick says SJSU 34-31, but I can also see, like, a 31-20-type score...

Buff, I think that you are mixing up the Auburn/Minn stats--Minnesota threw for 7 yards.   Navy just might get more passing yards than most of the teams that we've played so far because a safety should always be close to the line playing run first--we will play a lot of man coverage Saturday which can lead to some big pass plays for Navy should they get loose.  The good news is that Pruitt and Wallace are two of the best in the conference at playing man coverage and Knight has a nose for smelling out any leftover scraps to be had.  Hightower will probably used on most plays against the run.

Thanks for that clarification, Tom.  Yes, I stand corrected on the Minny passing stat.  I guess I now need to add my $0.02: I think you're referring to (Maurice) McKnight, correct?  Touche!   :P
