  1. In one breathe you say it won’t be the same offense and in another you say Sluka is better suited to the gogo offense than Maiava. Trust me, OC’s stick to what has worked for them, Marion included, he’s not that bright of a guy. Tigers don’t change their stripes. The good DC’s will see what he’s done last year and this upcoming year in OOC and conference and be ready for him.
  2. Football spending should go up over time. The first few years of the stadium they are putting money away for a rainy day fund related to the stadium debt in case another covid or something similar happens. Once that is accomplished I think the purse strings will open up a bit for football. The new staff is making over $1mm more than the old staff. Something to keep in mind is the cost of living is pretty high in San Diego so SDSU should be paying significantly more for coaching staff. Also that revenue number for last year included the "stadium excellence" gift that was mandatory for all season ticket holders which is slightly higher than the annual cost for season tickets. That's amortized over three years so that should dissipate over time. Offsetting that will be more stadium rental revenue from more events being held and then in a couple of years more from MLS. It's pretty amazing though that SDSU had the same revenue as UCLA and more than several P5 schools despite not getting much in the way of media rights revenue.
  3. And to freaking Fayetteville, ARKANSAS
  4. They ought to tear down the east side and build it back closer to the field with suites and premium seating. It would easily pay for itself.
  5. 0 MLS money in that number. These numbers are for the first year (ended 6/23) of Snapdragon which was only a partial year of revenue from Snapdragon. There are more events this year ending 6/24 so the number will be higher. The debt payment is $8mm annually. MLS and more event revenue will add to that number. When Viejas is remodeled to add more suites and premium seats the number will go higher.
  6. Ironically, I would have zero knowledge if they had one or not. I haven’t paid any attention to MLB at all in over 25 years despite working in the front office for a MLB team for several years. I’ve several friends who I’ve worked with who subsequently won World Series as presidents and GM’s and were considered personnel geniuses, who were not. The whole money ball book and movie was a total sham. Billy bean was the LAST guy in MLB who used data. A guy I worked with was the very first baseball ops guy to ever incorporate it yet his name is probably missing from the “money ball” book and movie.
  7. The Indiana’s, Purdue’s, Iowa’s, Minnesota’s, et al went through this exercise way back when they agreed to admit Penn st. There is no dissolving the conference without their approval. Their general counsels were wise enough to think of many different possible outcomes and protected them from them.
  8. Most evenings in the summer there is a strong southerly breeze from the delta up the river and blows right toward the left field fence. RH power hitters tend like the park. It's not a huge advantage by any means, but it does help when it blows.
  9. The B1G bylaws specify that none of the original 10 can ever be removed from the conference under any circumstance. That was put into the bylaws in exchange for some reluctant schools to OK the first round of expansion way back when with Penn St.
  10. Can someone be so kind as to remind me the monetary penalties the Pac 2 agreed to with the MW in regards to poaching MW schools. I vaguely recall it being something like $18mm per school if done after the two year agreement expired and twice that if before two years?
  11. I don’t follow basketball at all and didn’t watch the game, however I saw the score and wanted to congratulate the Lobos on winning the championship. Hopefully you guys go wreak havoc in the tourney.
  12. Horrible. Feel for the parents. Can’t imagine having to bury your child.
  13. Weathers played linebacker on the 1968 and 1969 Aztecs teams that went a combined 20-0-1. “We didn’t lose,” said Weathers. He played for the Raiders in 1970 and 1971.
  14. I know he wasn't born and bred, but TG was mf'ing drafted in the first round of the MLB one day and the next day in the NBA draft by the clips. I think only Deion and Bo Jackson can say the same in the past half century. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
