  1. When did they start kicking from the 40?
  2. Curious for what? Looked like he was almost 15 yards down the field.
  3. In fairness, the team was also competing against Boots In The Park at Waterfront for the students. It probably didn't start out as full as they said it did. I'd guess it would have impacted all of the student sections. Still no excuse for attendance to be that low in a new stadium for a quality opponent. It also makes UCLA look bad that they couldn't attract more of their fans to a drivable game.
  4. Big West boost your RPI all the way to 6? Or will it sink like a rock soon?
  5. I don't think FS should get paid subsidies, although not every school takes advantage of game 13, the dogs can and since they throw a bone to an FCS team every year anyways, this gives them a chance to play an extra game against a quality OOC opponent, I could understand when our other sports travelled there, it was tough to justify trips to the Island within the schools budget, but now for only football...not so much. The 'dogs utilize their association with them for recruiting and the games against them seem to be better attended than those of some other MWC teams. The increased ticket sales during home games makes up a portion of the cost. Add in the profit made whether it's a home or away game and it more than covers it.
  6. Last year only Boise had Athletic ticket sales worth a damn. I don't care if you have an average attendance of 50k, if the people aren't paying to be there, it doesn't help the University near as much. Even with an improved football team the 'Dogs had their lowest ticket sales in probably 10 years, and they still ranked 3rd in the MWC despite horrible basketball attendance. Fresno State fans need to step it up just like everyone else. So far so good this season, but we will see how it pans out financially. As for how teams count attendance, I'd say they choose the method that helps put the most positive spin on things. Unless SJSU has 0 paid attendance for all other sports, or all of their football tickets were sold for $10 or less, they are benefitting by counting butts in seats versus the number of paid tickets. The University claimed 686k in total ticket revenue for all sports last year and over 64,000 in football attendance over the same period. Clearly they are counting tickets that were given away.
  7. As a 'Dog fan I'd love to defend our attendance but the reality is we should sell out weekly. There are plenty of people and a large number of fans in the area. Excuses like TV coverage, opponent, date, current record, concessions, economy, making a stand against the University, and others have all been thrown around the last several years. IMO no matter what our record is, these young men agree to represent the School we cheer for and they deserve our support. There are plenty of fans that can afford to do so that choose not to. I also feel the other sports deserve our support to, but unlike bball, softball, baseball and the rest of the sports...there are only 6 football games a year to go to. Football also pays the bills for the majority of those sports, so by supporting it you support them all . Do I think the University could make it easier to attend the games? Without question, a 7:30 Thursday night game is brutal on families. Scheduling non FBS teams keeps the average fan away. Have 2 of these games and people avoid season tickets and buy single game only. Easy to talk your way out of and skip game you don't have ticket to. If Fresno State sold some cheaper tix weekly it may help too. Hopefully our attendance will continue to go up this season, but not sure which of the remaining games will excite our fan base. Nevada will for sure, UNM if they continue to improve. Both if the 'Dogs remain undefeated. UNLV not sure.
  8. Probably right. Otherwise you'd want to grab an OC before your O-line Coach. Allow him to have some sort of input based on what he brings to the table.
  9. Are you kidding? They LET the Lakers go because they knew SGF's asstecs and the Bronco's were coming. If they had stayed in the MWC, no way they let the Lakers go to TWC. What rock have you been hiding under?
  10. Does it matter? Based on pictures the attendance is sadly understated. I have been at games at Nevada where the same has happened. This isn't news. The Spartans are starting to play good ball again and the fans will come back. Fresno State will hopefully get some of theirs back too. Looking forward to attending more games in SJ in the future. If nothing else the fans have been fun to banter back and forth with and years ago it was extremely entertaining. Good luck this season Spartans because next year you will suck again
  11. Maybe by sticking it out past the deadline, they will be able to collect the fees from FS, UNR and Hawaii. Then use that money towards their entrance fee. I can't picture the Wac being able to enforce any exit fees from here on out.
  12. How long has SDSU been making Real Money through their basketball program? Is it just the last few years, or have they always been a good draw? I know Fresno State 8-10 years ago had a bball program that was almost on par with its football team profitability wise (both over 2 mill profit a year), but it has slipped a great deal. Would be nice to get there again.
  13. They would only be happy if they weren't getting subsidies. If they are, sending their bball team to Boise won't hurt at all.
