For argument's sake, let's say that the Big 12 gobbled up Stanford and Cal, Oregon, and Washington. Also, PAC 12 had added San Diego State and SMU. I personally don't think much of the Big 12 except for Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State. Now if you added those schools with the remainder of the PAC 12 you'd actually have a really good 12-team conference. I don't know I guess you could throw in the Kansas school?. So I seriously doubt whether in the end there would be anything like the Big 12 or the PAC 12 although the teams in the new conference could call themselves the Western 12 or whatever they come up with.
