BSUTOP25

Virginia Getting More Votes Than Wyoming

This despite Wyoming dominating UVA; and I mean dominating. We need college football pollster reform! Poke fans have to be a little perturbed about this?

Its all a joke. Why isnt BSU in the top 25, why not Wyoming and why isnt Hawaii higher than 16 or how is USF ranked top ten and Arizona St not? The rankings are questionable to me...but its still a consensus vote.

I like flying under the radar. There is a lot more in those polls that looks screwy to me. How is a 2 loss florida team ranked above any unbeatens? It will work its way out in another month or so.

IMO, Wyoming is a legitimate top 25 team, their record and their performance on the field backs me up. Tennessee and Auburn should not be ranked; Tennessee struggled against Southern Miss at home. Come on, that win over Georgia is nothing to brag about as the Bulldogs are not as good as in years past.

I don't know about us being T25. I think there are teams ahead of us in votes (bsu for example) that have a much better claim than we do. It doesn't help our cause that two really poor teams took us to the wire. If the POKES handle the blowbos and demonstrate that they can handle the road, then I could see them getting in. I'm happy with where they are at.

Wins over TCU and Virginia plus the fact that UW only has 1 loss is enough to convince me. Plus, I've seen first hand how talented the Poke defense is ... I've been warning the MWC not to overlook UW as I think they're good enough to win the conference.

I'm sold that the POKES are a pretty solid team that could make noise in the MWC this year. However, for me to be sold on them as a T25 team, IMO WYO needs to be a more complete team. The two areas that really need to strengthen are the passing game and special teams. The main one is special teams--we are horrible in this area and it will cost us a game (I would bet more than that). Thanks for the vote of confidence though. As I said, bsu is one of the teams getting shafted more so than WYO.

I would rank BSU 22, Wyoming 23, Virginia 24, UConn 25. JMO.

You know what's going to be funny about these rankings is that the BcS poll will pretty much mirror them despite the fact that the BcS is supposed to be "independent" from the pre-season and pre-BcS rankings. IMO, the human factor is greatly influenced by these pre-BcS polls. In other words, what really is the point of postponing the BcS rankings 'til mid-October or whenever they usually come out when it's basically the same as the other polls?

I couldn't agree with you more Joe. Special teams need alot of fixing. The one area that was a question-mark at the beginning of the season was the offensive line. I am pleased with the progress of the OL, however it needs some more work on pass protection. Is it just me, or does it seem like our defensive backs are giving the receivers too much cushion? The polls are so biased, that they are meaningless unless you are in the hunt for a BCS bid to a bowl. What a bunch of BS. There are 7 more games on our schedule and not one of them will be easy.

Why are you surprised? These are the same pollsters who were giving Michigan top-25 votes after the Wolverines were humiliated by Appy State and Oregon AT HOME. Wyoming destroyed Virginia. You would think some of the AP writers back east (e.g. ACC territory) would show the Pokes a little more love at this point, wouldn't you? The human polls are nothing but perception early on and politics thereafter. It's a joke.

There is no BCS / East Coast bias. The difference in votes between Virginia and Wyoming confirms it. Hahahahaha!

1-loss Boise State beat 1-loss Wyoming who beat 1-loss Virginia, and Virginia has more votes than the other two combined? What a load of steaming garbage!

As for Hawaii, who really thinks that they will beat BSU and/or Washington this year?

#20 BYU 14, #3 Oklahoma 13

#18 BYU 26, #21 Utah 23

#14 BYU 44, #16 Oregon State 20

#10 BYU 82, Utah 69

#14 BYU 71, Utah 51

#16 BYU 99, Florida 92

If I were doing a poll I would certainly have Wyoming in the top 20. Losing a road game is much different than losing a home game like Auburn or Florida. I think the SEC is good this year, but not as good as they are being ranked in the opinion polls. While I think that Cincy is for real I would not take UConn against anyone in the top half of the MWC. I was also very stunned that Florida Atlantic would have the ball with a chance to win with a minute left against South Florida. It is a really crazy year with all the upsets. However, that is part of what makes it so fun.

Go Cougs!!!!!!!!!

P. S. BYU losing to UCLA with their starting QB is way different from the Domers beating them with a 3rd string QB.

I just want you guys to know Virginia fans and players are already stating that their loss to WYO was due to their unable to adjust to altitude. Their players have stated their legs were gone after the 2nd quarter. I don't know if it is true or not, but it has been stated several times on UCONN board since these guys play us at their home. They are a much better team at home vs. on the road and that's not debatable.

Imagine that, UCONN could help out MWC and move WYO past Virginia if they beat them this week. Are fans gonna give us credit or will it be another spin that UVA is a joke?
