Ranking the MWC

Recommended Posts

  1. Wyoming -- Get the big win over TCU, only one loss, should be ranked.
  2. BYU -- Playing well, but still have holes.
  3. New Mexico -- I still think they are a really good team.
  4. Utah -- Out of the conference race, but playing extremely well OOC, and thus the bump.
  5. TCU -- Two losses really hurts them in the race, but none were at home.
  6. Air Force -- Playing well, but can't move them up too high due to the Navy loss.
  7. UNLV -- Loss on the road is not terrible, but they need to learn to win. Still think they need a different coach.
  8. SDSU -- Congrats on a conference win on the road.
  9. CSU -- Looks like it is time for change. Perhaps not the HC yet, but certainly some heads need to roll.

Go Cougs!!!!!!!!

1. Wyoming - Big win against TCU they stay number 1(Previous 1)

2. BYU - no change (2)

3. New Mexico - no change (3)

4. Air Force - Strong win against UNLV now with 3 conference wins(4)

5. TCU - now 1-2 in the MWC (5)

6. SDSU - Big win for them on the road. With two of their three losses to top 20 teams, they could be better than we think (8)

7. UNLV - Which team shows up each week? This week, the old UNLV. (6)

8. Utah - I think Louisville is more bad than Utah is good, UCLA's loss to Notre Dame shows that their two "big" wins maybe aren't that impressive (7)

9. CSU - Has now lost 12 in a row. Is there any doubt who is last (9)

IF the season were to end today.....

1. BYU-- Got big win vs. UNM on the road last week....concern about loss vs. Tulsa and UCLA

2. Wyoming-- Big win vs. TCU...still concerned about the close Ohio game and BSU loss..

3. UNM-- Solid team with various individual leading the MWC stats all-around. Too many weapons....but concerned about loss vs. UTEP

4. Utah-- can't ignore UCLA and Louisville victories...concern about the UNLV and OSU laughers

5. Air Force-- solid 3-1 record in-conference.....concern about loss vs. Navy

6. TCU--- too many talent to rule out

7. UNLV---not worth my time

8. SDSU---not worth my time

9. CSU---not worth my time

9. CSU

Not sure how you can put Utah at 8 with a 3-1 OOC record. Two wins against BCS teams with .500 or better records.. Not to mention a road win...

I don't see too many "big" wins from other MWC teams in this conference against the BCS... Do you? Maybe Virginia.

I realize we need to do better in conference but 8 seems pretty low to me.. Personally, I'd put Utah mid pack right now until we get some conference wins..

Maybe the Utes are back on track? I'm not guessing probability, but it is not impossible that the Utes run the table from here. IMO this race is going to get crazy

Here's the key stat even with turnovers:

When Mack has 100+ on the ground, we win big... BJ is starting to get in rhythm.. That's about as far as this Ute dares to predict...

BJ looked really solid to me. My guess is that if he continues, the Utes will at least "be in" every game the play for the rest of the season. It is really too bad about that first game; this season for the Utes could have been a lot different.

Can't argue 1 and 2. May reverse them though. I don't know, but I think Utah is a solid #3, TCU is better than #6 (they have to be-right?), and I may have SDSU above UNLV

My rankings:

1. Wyo

2. BYU

3. AFA

4. UNM

5. Utah

6. TCU

7. UNLV

8. SDSU

9. CSU

1. Wyoming--so far very impressive wins. Good D and the offense is moving forward.

2. BYU--still needs to address penalties

3. UNM---the most solide top to bottom team that BYU has played this year, IMO

4. AFA--3-1 in conference keeps them in title hunt

5. TCU--still has great talent and the defense will give them a chance to win every game. The offense is still a work in progress.

6. Utah---to much talent to finish any lower. Cant rank them higher in conference until they have a conference win. Still 6 seems too low.

7. UNLV--really a mystery to me. They could be much better than I think. Next week against BYU will be telling.

8. SDSU--now that they are into their real season (ie their practise nonconf games that they dont play with any heart is over) they may just win the MWC. Just razzing you Aztec fans, but they do have talent when they come to play.

9. CSU---has no business being last. Still they dont know how to win at all.

TCU is 1-2 in conference.. Baylor, CSU and SMU wins are nothing to brag about, IMO.. I think TCU still wins 8 or 9 games but they are kinda lost right now, IMO... They got destroyed on the ground today, which is normally their strong suit.. I think the whole Blake mess is getting in their heads whether they admit it or not..

Let's hear a solid reason to put SDSU above UNLV... Portland State and CSU????

Here Comes the Truck Stop Bowl for Boise.. No need for blues to unpack the travel trailer/perminant residence for the big game, just pull her a few miles on down to the stadium ..

Beat it bozo.. This is MWC business..--------------------------------------------------> http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?S=336#s=336

I would flip Wyo and BYU. Wyoming is a pretty good team, but BYU has way more talent. Still, I would take issue with you saying anyone is out, even with 2 losses. The conference just isn't very good, and no one stands out far above the rest. BYU is in the driver's seat due to their favorable schedule and a road win at UNM, but I doubt anyone else can go through without losing twice. If someone knocks off BYU just once, remember BYU has to play Utah in Provo, where Utah has had good success. Entirely conceivable that the conference champ (or champions, as the case may be) might have two losses this year.

I agree with the whole Blake thing. Its in thier heads. As for SDSU over UNLV, yeah the w's may not seem impressive. But maybe the L's do. We moved the ball on some seemingly good teams. The offense doesn't turn the ball over (Ya hear me Mr. Bornes) and the defense showed SOME promise. And maybe- just maybe- there is some spunk to this team. When the Rams went up late 20-17 on that deep pass, I said to myself- Game Over. This team showed a little resolve. Past Aztec teams would have rolled over. Issues-sure, but as good if not better than UNLV? Maybe

Now I won't agree with this guys approach in addressing this but he does make a valid point to some degree...UNLV did smoke the Utes so I may drop the Utes behind the Rebels...it's just so hard to distinguish this season

2-4 vs 3-3.

We've beat much better teams and have a big road win... If UNLV continued to play like they did against Utah, I would rank them aboove us in a heart beat.

Utah has won 2 in a row, UNLV has lost 2...
