  1. ugh! we know your pain Aztecs....#1 seeds are no joke this year. Still a great year and another Sweet16 appearance!
  2. Alford and Pitino didn't turn down anything. These are the kind of statements every coach makes as soon as they have been notified that they are no longer being considered for the position.
  3. A DII team? LMAO... Toledo has won the MAC regular season title 4 years in a row - they are hardly DII. That being said, I hope our aim is a little higher than Kowalczyk. He could bring a nice collection of players with him but other than that he has not really delivered anything of note in the post season.
  4. Sounds like Todd Simon desperately wants this gig but our AD has Ohio-based connections and is favoring Toledo's Tod Kowalczyk right now. It will be interesting to see if she makes it to 3 names on a short list for interviews. Andy Hill is the only current assistant that has been talked about as a possibility. Former assistant Nate Dixon (under Odom) actually stayed in Logan this entire past year and did not follow Odom back east. He is another possibility to find his way back onto the staff. Tim Miles has already interviewed twice for the USU job and been passed up twice. I don't think he'll get a third look with the new AD. Medved's name has been tossed around but only by fans, mainly due to USU's willingness to go to the 2M range with Sprinkle and fans wondering if Medved could be had for similar money. He's obviously not a target of the AD - nor should he be. Sounds like pretty much every player is entering their name in the portal, even local freshman starter Mason Falslev.
  5. There's no doubt that the 900k investment in Sprinkle was a good ROI. A regular season MWC title, a coach of the year, a player of the year, and a first round NCAA win. The problem is he also spent USU's money to go recruit 4 & 5 star guys starting about mid-season with absolutely ZERO intent of them ever coming to Logan. He knew he was gone and flew around on USU's dime building relationships for his next gig. On top of that, we will watch Osobor, Martinez, Uduje, Jackson, Agponkpolo (if he gets a medical hardship), and probably Falslev all move on, either with Danny or to other teams. We'll be left with one redshirt (Grant) and Isaac Johnson if we're lucky. Basically back to the same square we started at last off-season. While that turned out okay this season, it is no way to build or sustain a successful program.
  6. Craig Smith = 3 years Ryan Odom = 2 years Danny Sprinkle = 1 year Where do we go from here? Maybe we just take the buyout $$ and hire a "bag guy" for couple of weeks -he makes some calls and offers some top players a slice of the buyout $$ (we'll call it NIL) to come play and they can coach themselves. No coach required.
  7. man, I wish. I think we all know what is going to happen (or may have already happened). Sprinkle will move on and take pretty much everyone except maybe the local boys in Johnson and Falslev. USU will once again be left trying to find a new coach and roster of players. We're just enjoying it while it lasts!
  8. I want to cry...we look like the faster more athletic team....i never thought I would see the day.
  9. You know you all feel good rooting for the Aggies for once.
  10. Stevens has been a non-factor for almost the entire post season going back to the MWC tourney. At least the Rams delivered an even 1-1 record.
  11. Nice try Broncs...too many guys just didn't show up tonight. It was there for the taking but I don't think a team led by Roddie Anderson is going to win in March, he was overwhelmed all night.
  12. meh, Osobor is a load for anyone to guard. He sets up shop outside of the lane almost exclusively in half court sets so it may seem like he is camping but he just takes up so much space. He is usually only deep in the paint early in the possession as the ball is crossing half court. It's crazy that he can play as many minutes as he does and still beat guys up and down the court late in games. How has he not dropped like 30 pounds during the season? It was a very nice effort by Fresno St. Kudos to them for never giving up! Either way, USU's tournament will end tomorrow night. There is just no depth and now playing without Falslev only compounds that problem.
  13. Ding! Ding! Ding! MidnightTrainAggie would often verify big information or give a warning that he/she was about to make a big breaking news insider announcement by posting nothing more than "Choo Choo". The announcement would then appear shortly thereafter.
