  1. Right now the Sun Bowl trumps the LV Bowl. History, stadium, attendance, etc. When the new stadium becomes a reality, the LV Bowl will trump the Sun Bowl, no getting around it. Stadium, money, prime destination, etc. UTEP needs to work with the Sun Bowl people (all are El Pasoans) and CBS, the long time media partner with the Sun Bowl, and with the ACC and MWC to have the MWC champ (when not in the Access Bowl) vs an ACC team. UTEP's angle would be membership in the MWC, not so UTEP can play in the Sun Bowl but because it needs some leverage to get into the MWC since it is full right now. UTEP normally has a solid basketball program and when (seldom) successful in football has very good attendance in football as well.
  2. The NM Bowl looked good on tv, good crowd and exciting game. UNM came close to pulling it out. Nice showing.
  3. This could bode well for the Alliance and BE since this new Fox venture plus NBC-Sports and CBS-Sports will all be after content. The fact that CUSA already has a deal with Fox (mostly on the regional networks), maybe bringing the 8 MWC FB teams into CUSA with the understanding that the FB contract will be re-negotiated would be the way to start this conference conglomeration. Keep the MWC other sports in the MWC so that you keep the exit fees and ncaa credits. Comcast would no longer have MWC FB to televise. As for how well the BE does in their upcoming negotiations, doesn't matter to me. I expect they will do well so congrats to them for that but I just want our new league to do as well as it can with a tv contract. Better than what we have now and doesn't matter if the BE makes more money.
