TCU Football Commits

Recommended Posts

Crawford and Burks are rumored to be commits to the coaching staff, but the rivals writer has not had those two guys commit in a interview. Crawford is very talented and was the leading JUCO rusher, Burks flew under the radar due to many injuries and probably would have been a high 3 star or low 4 star prospect if he had stayed healthy.

Out of the offers, LaMichael James would be a huge pickup as a highly recruited running back. He has mentioned that he likes TCU because it is close to home (which is more his mom's like than his), they graduate players, and it is a private school. Minnesota and Nebraska appear to be the toughest competition for James services, and Baylor has jumped in late although James said he favors TCU in Texas because we have been recruiting him the longest.

Eddie Brown out of Waller is a good prospect, and TCU should land him if Texas A&M does not offer. TCU LB Jason Phillips is from Waller and Phillips younger brother (a senior next year) and the Waller coach are big fans of TCU and Brown admitted that he has heard a lot of TCU talk in Waller.

Chris Adkins is probably in the 2nd group of RBs, but the Frogs would recruit him heavier if Crawford or James end up elsewhere. Adkins also has a teammate who originally verballed to Oklahoma State who is going to take a look at TCU. That could be a package deal for the Frogs.

Spano is a good QB prospect and his dad was quoted as saying that Nebraska is the front runner but that TCU and Tulsa were also in the mix for his services. If the Nebraska visit goes well then I am sure he ends up a Husker. If not then it will be between TCU and the Golden Hurricanes.

I really have not heard all that much about the other offers, but I thought I would add what I had heard about some of them.

According to today's Daily Oklahoman, Spano pretty much a Nebraska commit. Spano had listed Nebraska and Tulsa as his two top choices but now has eliminated TU.

Spano was the first person to commit to this Oklahoma State recruiting class. He committed in February and then changed his high school schedule and took summer classes so he could graduate in December and enroll in January so he could go through Spring drills. About 3 weeks ago, he was told by Coach Gundy that 2 players who were supposed to graduate in December failed to do so. Since they failed classes they needed to graduate, Oklahoma State was going to have to keep them on scholarship for the Spring semester. Thus, there was no available scholarship for Spano this Spring. He was however welcome to walk on. Spano's family felt that this was not what they had agreed to with Gundy back in February. Gundy told them Spano would have to pay his own way in the Spring, or he could enroll at the start of the Summer under scholarship. Spano's family then began to look at other options since Oklahoma State did not follow through with the terms of their agreement.
