Boise State latest to join the provide cost of attendance bandwagon

CSU AD Jack Graham - “If you get outside our borders, no one knows who we are. I was in Phoenix (last week) for the Mountain West meetings and there was a reception with all of the athletic directors. The bartender said to me, ‘Colorado State, where are you guys, Boulder?’ I’ve gotten that all my career. No one knows us outside our own boundaries."

someone will have to remind me of the procedures ...

As far as I can tell, Boise St. is just affirming their intent to offer the stipend.  The Pac-12 has, as a conference, agreed to offer the stipend ... but it still must be approved by the NCAA D1 autonomous governance structure in January.

Bosie St. is not part of that structure, so I assume they will not be allowed to offer the stipend until the body that governs the rest of the G5 takes up the issue.

Free truck driving lessons and a year's supply of spuds is cost of attendance?

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears; it was their final, most essential command.

Yes.  The MAC was just saying they are supporting the P5 for the January passage of the autonomy rules.   Now whether or not all MAC schools or only some of them offer the stipend, is still up in the air if I understand.

BSU saying they'll pay full cost of attendance doesn't matter because the MW will state they support the PAC 12 measure in January.  Whether or not all MW schools off the same benefits as the PAC or not will remain to be seen.

From an article earlier in the year.

"The difference between Boise State’s athletic scholarships and the cost of attendance for 2014-15 is $5,100. If, as expected, the NCAA approves an upgrade to full cost-of-attendance scholarships, Coyle wants to apply that figure to each of his 226 scholarships. Total cost: $1,152,600."

Hmmm, CSU said they would do this back when it was first being talked about.  I think SUDS and USU did as well.  I'm sure UNM is in.  Probably all of us.

My guess is that is has never been made official by those schools. I wouldn't assume that everyone is going to be able to afford this.

Your probably right re. the official announcement.  As for everybody affording this, I don't think they have a choice realistically.

Considering that we just signed an agreements with Albertson's and Learfield sports I think we'll be just fine. Those two deals will bring in on average $4.25 million a year. Not to mention our ESPN $$$.

I'm sort of surprised that Boise unilaterally acted and announced this.

The PAC12 met as a conference to decide this.  Boise didn't wait on the MWC or Hair Thompson to call a meeting, and unilaterally acted.  Does the MWC even have an official stance on what benefits the conference will offer, if any?

I guess Boise will just copy the PAC12.  Well done Boise, for not waiting on Hair!  I like this approach.

Your deal with Learfield must be huge, because Boise only gets $833,000.00 per year from the Albertson's deal.
