  1. This sounds like the classic dilemma faced by people like Assad in Syria and the USA in Vietnam. Do we just go and kill villagers or people who may be woman and children but also may have sympathies toward the enemy? The strategy promoted by the CIA and others has always been to "send in the death squads" when you may need to fight some supposed communists in places like the jungles of Latin America. But is that really how countries like the USA and Israel should behave? Mass Killings of Civilians in Counter-Insurgency: Killing More, Winning More? - Military Strategy Magazine One theorist on guerrilla warfare once asserted that “no measure is more self-defeating than collective punishment [of civilians]”,[xix] echoing the widely popular opinion among the academic community that mass violence against non-combatants markedly exacerbates an already difficult situation for a government. Another prolific scholar on the subject of civil conflict systematically studied a large number of historical case studies and concluded that mass violence against non-combatants has on most occasions reinforced rather than reduced the popularity and legitimacy of the insurgents.[xx] As a matter of fact, mass violence against non-combatants has on most cases proven militarily successful for a government in the short run and counter-productive in military and political terms in the long run.[xxi]
  2. Joe Scarborough always tell a story about his old grandma who would give the televangelists like Jimmy Swaggert all her money and compares the grifter and the "victims" to Donald Trump and his supporters. Donald Trump is pulling the same modern day grift on the same dumbasses.
  3. That is about as idiotic as saying Americans as a Collective decided they love Trump.
  4. You are so hung up on if that debt is dischargeable or not...the fact of the matter if he declared bankruptcy all action would really have to stop against him and the courts would have to become involved...buying time. If the guy physically doesn't have the money to pay the judgement his only option would be to liquidate some assets and he may not be able to actually do that so quickly. If he has to liquidate some assets, he would be better off to do it through the bankruptcy process than having a fire sale. PLUS, I guarantee that the state isn't going to be the first lienholder if he is forced to sell something.
  5. Trump's 'only choice' may be to declare bankruptcy as $454M bond deadline looms: Top business writer (nypost.com) “He will lose the assets, absolutely. He’ll have to pay the judgment. But it would all be done in a much more timely, slower, more orderly way than in the next five days.”
  6. Delay is the name of the game for Trump. It buys him time. He could also stiff his other creditors if they are junior to the judgement.
  7. What are you talking about?!?!? The judge will decide what debts are dischargeable but that isn't even the point. Bankruptcy will help to liquidate the assets to free up cash to pay creditors and also buy time so a firesale isn't required.
  8. Hey @bornontheblue...Trump does have a really good option to appeal without having to post a bond. Bankruptcy....a thing that protects us all in case of a large debt we cannot pay...unless you are a student loan borrower. And plus if nobody left this twice impeached, insurrectionist, pussy grabbing, rape liable, con artist before why would a bankruptcy matter to the cult? He can just do the same thing he says when it was revealed he pays no taxes. "I am so smart! I used the bankruptcy code to hoodwink the liberals again!"
  9. Putin said this 4 days ago! I would also like to recall the recent provocative statements by a number of official Western structures regarding potential terrorist attacks in Russia. All these actions resemble outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilise our society. You are well aware of them, so I will not go into details at this point. What a maroon. See what happens @modestobulldog when you wrap your head in conspiracy theories constantly? Reality slaps you in the face. http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/73678
  10. The Biden administration has done a very good job of declassifying and releasing information quickly so the Russians don't have a chance to distort and lie about it. Putin was caught with his pants down and he will surely try to blame Ukraine to deflect. His forces are so over-extended there that he cannot wreck ISIS right now.
  11. The Soviets tried to put an iron curtain across a continent once to keep all of their citizens caged. It didn't work. Humans will always find ways around the artificial borders. Your best bet is to recognize this and basically tell anyone they can cross the border as long as it is at a legal point of entry. Then you actually have to have internal enforcement and actually force employers to stop hiring illegally. Those that truly want to be here and don't have skills would have to work as migrant farm workers with an ankle monitor for a time. Digitally fingerprint and do facial recognition to everyone coming through. The best way to actually have a secure border is to remove all the incentives to cross the border illegally.
  12. Is the prosecution of Bob Menendez "just a political prosecution?" If that were the case wouldn't the Biden admin just look the other way as to not jeopardize a closely divided senate? Menendez is accused of sliding some gold bars in his suits in exchange for votes. When can we ever prosecute crooked politicians if we always scream, "political prosecution!" How is what Menendez did materially different from what Trump has done? Trump also accepted bribes from through his hotels, etc. Trump tried to get Zelinsky to give him a bribe in order to release the defensive weapons. At the end of the day, maybe a criminal gets off on some of these crimes. But eventually they will find something to nail you with. They do it knowing full well all the crimes and misdeeds you have done in the past for which they cannot get you for. The got Capone for tax evasion and Trump may be going down for being a fraudster. Sometimes "political" prosecutions have to find a crime that can "stick."
  13. What does "being political" mean? Does it mean if someone is a politician, they should get a pass on crimes? By definition most of the time a prosecutor is accountable to voters. When they campaign on cracking down on drugs or finding a serial killer is that just "being political?" Most of the time people involved in some serious criminal shit like fraud aim to keep a low profile. They don't revel in rubbing prosecutors noses in their crimes. They keep their head down. Honestly, I can only think of one other person who had the gall to consider running for president while committing all manner of crimes who is pictured below. Do we think that the politicians who brought the guy pictured below to justice were, "just being political?" I am sure they campaigned to catch the guy, no? Was this just a political prosecution? Now let's look at another situation of "being political." The conjobs have been fishing around trying to find a reason why Biden did anything wrong or committed any impeachable offense. They keep searching and searching and searching for this evidence but it never emerges. Don't we think if Biden committed any crimes they would be all over him? To the contrary, Donald Trump has built his whole life and empire on fraud. The government looked at allegations, found the fraud, gave him a trial, and he was found liable. Why didn't Trump take the trial seriously? Why did he keep antagonizing the judge? Why? Because Donald Trump and his supporters believe the law and the rules are for other people to follow...not Donald Trump. So, if you make yourself a high-profile target for politicians as a criminal and they can catch your read handed and you are found liable or prosecuted, you have nobody to blame but yourself! If he didn't want the scrutiny, he should have stayed a game show host and not tried to run for the most scrutinized office in the world!
  14. The Israelis want their hostages back. The USA should say they will declare their support for a two state solution in exchange for an unconditional release of all hostages. That would be a HUGE win for the USA and Biden. Almost all Jews here believe in a two state solution too.
