Predict your Teams Schedual

Recommended Posts

This is just a topic i wanted to post to see in general how everyone thinks their team will do with their schedual and possibly the mountain west champ;

Aug. 30 Southern Utah: W

Sept. 6 @Wyoming: W

Sept. 13 @Houston: W

Sept. 20 Utah: L

Sept. 27 Open

Oct. 4 Navy: L

Oct. 11 @San Diego St: W

Oc.t. 18 @UNLV: W

Oct. 23 New Mexico: W

Nov. 1 @Army: W

Nov. 8 Colorado St: W

Nov. 15 BYU: W

Nov. 22 @TCU: W

I think air force is only going to get better and dominate this year on the field. I believe that their only loss will come against utah due to the fact that Brian Johnson will be healthy and that the Utes will have a power line of running backs. But i do see AIr Force possibly taking the MWC title this year due to the fact of their experience. I see Air Force beatin BYU for one reason...cockiness. The Cougs will probably think they are all high and mighty (if they havent been upset earlier) and lose to the falcons at home. Hope to hear everyones opinions.

I need to pad my bank account this year. Care to make a wager on your prediction for the Falcons?

I can't say i agree with falcon88 about the loss to Navy or the win over BYU...but i do think we're improving regardless...and the conference may be grossly underestimating the falcons...but that's just fine with me. I expect us to win either Utah, BYU or TCU, though, probably only one of them. Also...playing in Houston will be tougher than most people expect, but there's no reason we can't pull out the win.

I strongly disagree on the Navy Game. If there is one game (besides Southern Utah) that Air Force will win - it will be Navy.

I doubt we beat BYU or TCU. I'll also give AFA a pretty good shot against Utah since the game is at home, and we seem to play pretty well against the Utes.

We dominated for 3.5 quarters in Colorado Springs just 5 days after leaving it all on the field at UT. If not for a rookie QB and the dumbest offensive playcall in football history, we win that game. TCU will be significantly better on Nov 22, 2008 than they were on Sept. 13, 2007. Air Force not so much. You're on crack if you think that AFA comes into ACS and wins. We have lost 1 home game after Nov. 1 under Patterson. That was in 2004 with our worst team in the past 10 years.

Awww, cmon, buddy. on crack even? Nobody thought we'd beat you last year either. (and don't forget the two botched kicks by Manfrendini...those certainly helped you lose that game)

Um....not to be argumentative...but, I seem to remember a BYU team beating a ranked TCU in ACS in 2006.

Was that game after November 1? Read the original post.

You didn't specify which year "after Nov 1"...so, since the remaining sentence was speaking of your last loss in 2004...I assumed (incorrectly) that you had meant Nov 1, 2004.

Point taken that you've got an outstanding home record. Good job.

I think Air Force's schedule is pretty tough to start the season- after the gimme game, you've got games at UH and Wyo that will be tough and then Utah and Navy at home. A 2-3 or 3-2 start wouldn't be surprising. There's an easy stretch after that, but with the tough finish (remember TCU also gets an extra week to prepare), I think 10 wins will be very tough for the Falcons to get to. I think you'd have to go 4-1 to start, run the easy stretch and split BYU/TCU to get to 10 wins.

HOw does AFA continue its momentum after losing its top 4 rushers? DOn't get me wrong-- it'd be great if they did just that, but let's face reality here. Unless a lot of younger players reach a whole new level in '08, this season is going to be at least a small step backwards for the Academy.

TCU, on the other hand, already took its step backward. And it's prepped for a pretty explosive year. I see our schedule this way:

@ New Mexico- W

Stephen F. Austin- W

Stanford- W

@ SMU- W

@ OU- L

SDSU- W

@ CSU- W

BYU- 50/50

Wyoming- W

@ UNLV- W

@ Utah- L

Air Force- W

I see 10-2, or 9-3, depending on the outcome of the BYU game. I think the biggest issue this year for TCU is going to be health. We play the first 11 games of the season in less than 11 weeks. By the time we go to Las Vegas and SLC, we're going to be leaning on our 2s a lot. That's why I think we lose to Utah in SLC. Air Force, if as good as last year, may be a closer game than we'd like-- but I think we'll win it. We have a lot of time off before that game to get healthy.

With a few breaks, I think 11-1, or even 12-0, is within reach.

I think we'll lose to OU, split BYU/Utah and lose one other to go 9-3. With a little luck, we could have a special year, or with anti-luck, another 7 or 8 win season.

I think we cashed in a lot of bad luck last year. MOre than one year's worth.

This year our backfield is robust, or O-line is deeper; our QB has 13 games' experience under his belt; our wide-outs are going to be all-conference; our D-line isn't depleted; our corners, safeties, and linebackers are NFL material.

I pity the poor teams that line up against us this year.

Still think we are a year away from .500 ball; might be able to steal one from SJSU, but I'll take the Spartans at home. 4-8, sorry guys we still won't be carrying our share of the load this year.

I'll go with 6-6 (a reach). Swing game here or there could make the Aztecs 7-5 (I'm doing cartwheels) or 5-7 (where we'll probably finish). I can see 5 wins on the schedule- even though we are young and inexperienced.

hah. 10 wins? I'd be more than happy with 10 wins from AF...I see 7 wins as reasonable.

I gotta be honest it does not bug me if Air Force does well. In fact I wish them well against every team except BYU. 10-2 is pretty nuts though. I don't have the exact numbers and I don't care to check this early in the season, but didn't Airforce have one of the highest numbers of returning starters last year? Don't they have one of the lowest this year? Not to mention breaking in a new QB.

Southern Utah is a Win.

@ Wyoming the Pokes should be a better team this year. I think we will see less turnovers from the pokes this year. Plus they always play great at the beginning of the year. I think the AFA loses.

@ Houston i don't know tons about Houston, but they are solid from what I've seen and heard. We will say a win for AFA just for fun.

Your right about losing to Utah this year.

I hope AFA can take down Navy after what 4 long years? We will say Win.

@ SDSU probably has at least a year before making real progress. AFA win.

@ UNLV what can you say AFA win.

New mexico is a tough read. I'm not real sure at this point, but you got em at home so we will say a win.

@ Army should be a win.

CSU may be doing alright by this point in the season. Another tough call, but we will say win.

BYU Obviously, I am a BYU homer and am partial. BYU's offense returns just about everyone and with an added year of experience under everyone's belt should be a better unit. Byu's dfense has some starters ro replace, but from an athletic standpoint should be better. Expereince may be an issue at the start of the year, but barring major inuries the secondary should have it figured out by Nov 15. AFA loss

@ TCU I don't know which one is more silly. Picking AFA over BYU or AFA over TCU. TCU is going to be motivated in this one and they have you at home. I don't think it's even gonna be close.

8-4 best case scenario for the Flyboys.

It's hard for me to believe UNM and AFA aren't going to take a step back this year. However, Wyoming might fill that void. CSU, also, might. It'd be great to get some life out of SDSU or UNLV, but that's probably less likely than AFA or UNM staying on the track they ended '07 with...
