SEC Powerhouse Missouri Wins the East for the 2nd Straight Year

Recommended Posts

I think it just shows that teams should be ranked based on their own abilities and not the fact that they play in a certain conference. They also would not win the SEC West. Mizzou will be top ten now though.

I don't think they are.  Looking at those rankings right now, I would agree with pretty much all of them,

They are pretty good now, but earlier in the year it was bs. When A&M beat S. Car there was a huge overreaction. I just don't think there is a huge gap between the SEC and other P5s like people think. The top of the SEC has some great teams, but that.doesn't mean the whole conference is head and shoulders above others.

This I agree with.

The SEC is absolutely the best conference. They proved it in non-conference (Georgia beating up Clemson, LSU beating Wisconsin, Auburn beating K State, Alabama beating West Virginia, Arkansas shellacking Texas Tech etc...).

No other conference has that ooc resume. The Big 12 has what Minnesota and Iowa with regard to ooc scalps?

But it is not hands down better then other conferences. I think Missouri and A&M's competitiveness shows that the SEC while the best conference, is not miles better than everyone else.

I only counted two trips to the Big 12 Championship Game and no conference titles of any kind since the 1960's and only one since the 1940's.

I did not say anything about conference championship game. I said Missouri was the Big 12 North champ 3 of the last 5 years. Which if you look at the conference record book, is an absolute fact. In 2010 they were co-champs but lost out on the tiebreaker.

At the end of the day, if KSU, WVU, Tech etc... had taken care of business against the SEC this offseason, I might agree with you. But the SEC, on the field, has proven they are the best.

With that said, I still think TCU might be the best team in the country and am still miffed that they had a collapse against Baylor, as I think they will miss out on the playoff because of it...

I wouldn't worry about TCU missing the playoff at all.  They have been building for next year.  That is the year that Coach Patterson expected to be a National Championship type team.  This year is all gravy.

I guess I just don't consider Division Titles to be anything other than the team that represents the division in the title game.  I guess Colorado State can fly a banner if they win today.

A&M and Mizzo have actually found more success in the SEC as far as rankings seem to go than they had in the Big XII. Texas holding them down.

Sumlin has elevated A&M from where they were in the Big 12. Sumlin would have had A&M in the discussion in the Big 12 if they stayed. Pinkel though has been there the whole time at Mizzou.

I'll bet you money that if TCU beats Iowa State...that even if Baylor wins out, that TCU will count this year as a conference championship and hang a banner somewhere, despite the fact that Baylor owns the tiebreaker.

They don't in the Big 12.  The conference has already released a press release saying that they award conference championships to any team with the same record.  No tiebreakers here.

Sumlin must not be too happy with his program because he fired his defensive coordinator today.
