  1. Yeah and the 49ers are an extreme case, because they basically moved to a completely different market. San Jose/south bay is a completely different metropolitan area according to the census bureau. Might as well have renamed them the San Jose 49ers. I completely agree with you on downtown stadiums for basketball/baseball/hockey. However, I can understand NFL stadiums being in the burbs just for the room for tailgating/parking.
  2. It depends, is this based more on their pro career or college career? Because it would be different answers for Nevada. Based on pro career: Football: Joel Bitonio/Marion Motley/Charles Mann/Brock Marion (honorable mention: Nate Burleson/Doug Betters/Colin Kaepernick) Basketball: JaVale McGee/Ramon Sessions/Edgar Jones/Caleb Martin (honorable mention: Cody Martin/Luke Babbitt/Kirk Snyder/Johnny High/Armon Johnson/Pete Padgett) Baseball: Lyle Overbay/Chad Qualls/Chris Singleton/Kevin Kouzmanoff (honorable mention: Ryan Church Based on college career: Football: Colin Kaepernick/Stan Heath/Marion Motley/Frank Hawkins (honorable mention: Carson Strong/Vai Taua/Cody Fajardo/DeShone Myles/Nate Burleson/Trevor Insley/Romeo Doubs) Basketball: Nick Fazekas/Edgar Jones/Caleb Martin/Kirk Snyder (honorable mention: Cody Martin/Jordan Caroline/Deonte Burton/Marcelus Kemp/Alex Boyd) Baseball: Lyle Overbay/Joe Inglett/Don Price/Rob Richie (honorable mention: Chad Qualls, Ryan Church, Mark Lewis, Andy Dominique)
  3. Yeah they should same. Same with the football championship. It’s lame having championship games on weeknights.
  4. 67 isn’t even odd if it’s a retread who had major success. This hire doesn’t fit the bill. Still hope it works out for you guys, it be nice to see Fresno have a good basketball program again.
  5. Lol it makes sense an SDSU fan wouldn’t count anything before 2000. Obviously history isn’t important for measuring the best programs today. But it’s a big part of what makes a blue blood
  6. I saw that, but don't understand. Why couldn't he just sell directly?
  7. Yeah, they haven't been able to finish the job but they've had lots of good teams this century. Indiana, not as much.
  8. According to Kenpom Rice's worst team was better than Menzies' best team. Not sure how you come to that conclusion.
  9. I still want to see him hired to start up the Nevada State basketball program. Supposedly they're getting a big donation to build an arena. They'd be a nice fit in the WAC down the road.
  10. Interesting, this is the same owner as the GSR in Reno who is planning to build a new basketball arena. There have been rumors that their minor league team would move to the new arena in Reno.
  11. It just depends on ones definition of blue-blood. IMO, it's the top handful of programs. I'd consider North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, UConn, UCLA, Kansas and possibly Indiana as blue bloods. Gonzaga is no-where near that list. But if you consider the top 25 or so historic programs as blue bloods than I'd include Gonzaga.
  12. Gonzaga has never won a championship, they certainly aren't a blue blood.
  13. Sacramento is a good baseball town. I remember the Rivercats used to get higher attendance than a couple MLB teams. I think Sacramento will really support the A's, and I really wish the MLB would consider Sacramento for expansion. Sacramento's big issue will always be lack of corporate money. I believe it's the largest city in the US without a fortune 500 headquarters. It's all about the State of California.
  14. Wow that’s amazing. They’ve basically won a quarter of national titles over the past 25 years. Under three different coaches too.
  15. These last two years have been insane. No one was even close to them.
