It is too bad the thing most associated with Utah culture, jazz, is taken.

Houston is an interesting possibility. Way back when, they had a successful WHA team. When the WHA merged with the NHL, Houston was originally in the merger talks. Then the team folded and despite the market and the strong history, the NHL has never gone there.

The women drew a lot more viewers on Sunday than the men did on Monday.

I’m not sure any UNLV hire after him has done any better and many have done worse.

I opened this expecting him to be the new coach at Clovis West High School.

I have yet to see anything that makes me believe that the NHL can be successful in the Phoenix area. That team has been in the area for decades and I don’t think they have made a profit even once in all that time.

I’m not a Gonzaga hater either, but it would be pretty easy to make a documentary several hours long about the history of college basketball without mentioning them at all.

Any new coach gives hope, but any college that wanted him probably could have had him as an assistant during the last 8 years. I doubt he was making too much coaching high school basketball in Clovis.

Not so much now. Starting last year teams began playing balanced schedules and you face every other Major League team at least once a season.

That is good to hear. If you are going to hire a 67 year old coach that has been coaching high school for the last 8 years, he better be the best damn one in the country.

How good have his teams been at Clovis West over the last eight years?

I have had season tickets for both men and women at Nebraska for the last several years. I am always more entertained at the women’s game than the men’s game. I enjoyed the women’s win over Iowa more than the men’s win over Purdue this year.

The fact that Fresno State hired a guy that has been a high school coach for the last several years when they used to hire Jerry Tarkanian and the head coach at BYU tells me all I need to know about how this job is regarded in basketball circles.

With six in the portal, I wouldn't rule it out. I don't know what the rules are to letter at TCU, but if they lettered, I would think they might return. All three were recruited to play basketball at different schools out of high school. Two of them didn't like their offers enough to want to play college basketball instead of going to TCU and the other one didn't think they could play basketball and still achieve their goal of becoming a doctor.
