There are a few things to consider, with regard to your points. USC was having so much success through the air vs Hawaii, it seemed running the ball was more of an afterthought. Since they sliced through your D for 394 pass yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, completing 63%, for a rating of 176.33. They still picked up a somewhat respectable 3.52 ypc on the ground with 1 TD, so not horrible. Consider Stanford held USC to 26 yards rushing, for an avg of 0.93 ypc, and it tells you the Trojans don't appear to be good at running the ball to this point in the season.
USC did roll up some yards on the ground vs Syracuse. But even FCS Stony Brook racked up 216 yards rushing against them, and I"m sure just about every team Syracuse plays this year will rack up a lot of rushing yards vs their porous defense.
Lamar can't run the ball. Louisiana-Lafayette's D held them to 38 yards rushing, for an avg of 1.03 ypc.
I'm not going to say Hawaii doesn't have a solid run D, as it appears they do, but I'm just saying the two samples haven't been real good at running the ball to this point in the season.
I"m not really worried about the Pack's offense, it's the defense that needs to step up.
