  1. I'm shocked. I've predicted every one of our games wrong since we have gotten into MWC play. Can't figure it out, but... Go Bows!
  2. I find it interesting that we always make our worst hires at the most inopportune time when we hang out with you people. We'll worry about our schedule, you just keep working on making this conference as unbalanced as possible, umkay, Craig?
  3. Expect an even bigger crowd this coming season. The Chargers vs. the Titans happens the following day after UH takes on SDSU. Manti Te'o vs. Marcus Mariota. They've been selling travel packages with both games and from what I understand, they've been selling like hot cakes! Always enjoyed our series with the Aztecs! Go Bows!
  4. Because I'm sick of watching Chow's garbage offense and sick of enabling UH's horrible decisions. Lot's of longtime fans are doing the same.
  5. I could be wrong on the few hundred thousand thing. Thought I heard or read that somewhere. Here's the agreement. http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/20140228_UHOceanic_deal_extends_payperview_football_through_2019.html?id=247968491
  6. Yeah, I heard something like after Oceanic recovers expenses, it was only a few hundred thousand that UH got via the contract. That's one of the reasons I say trash the thing. It looks good on paper, but it really ain't. The MWC thinks we are bathing in coin when it's the furthest thing from the truth. Think it's more important to be seen as a contributing, productive, and equal (for football) member of the MWC, then a red-headed bastard step-child.
  7. We are the only team in the entire nation that has to pay travel subs. It's baloney. Thank God the chicks are hot in Hawaii.
  8. Chow has lost more assistant coaches (11) then he has won games (8). He brings in a new OC every year with the promise of letting that guy do his thing and run the show. He was on the radio Monday saying that he and Bailey would now collaborate on the offense. Up until now he's been saying its Bailey's show. Rubbish. Dude is clueless. Fan base has clearly given up on this dude. But UH let's him coach on to the detriment of the entire athletic department. We can get back to the business of winning once Chow is gone. Not before then.
  9. I hear ya. Life ain't fair. Just Win Baby. I get it. The school and athletic department has been run by bafoons for the better part of a decade. How do you let a coach (Jones) get you to a BCS game in a walk year and never make the man an offer until he's 3/4's of the way out the door? Koetter was the choice of our former AD. Chow was a distant 4th or 5th according to the selection committee. For good reason. Our then President MRC Greenwood and her crony (Rockne Freitas) decided to go cheap and give the job to Chow as he offered to do the job for a little less than 1/2 of what the last coach was making ($550k vs. 1.1 million). Our numb nuts former AD (Ben Jay) let his Chinese buddy Chow coach on when it's apparent to anyone that watches football that Chow shouldn't be in charge of running a lemonade stand. I believe in McMackin's last season in 2011 we had around 22,000 season ticket holders. The renewal rate is being reported this season at somewhere around 8,000. Chow has killed the season ticket holders and the life blood of the athletic department. Football revenue. We have a new AD, David Matlin who used to run the Hawaii Bowl and Diamond Head Classic that just took the helm a few months ago. I heard Ben Jay is crashing on his brothers couch back in Ohio looking for a job. They had a Call the AD Show about a month ago. Matlin was soliciting calls on how UH could make money. I was both encouraged at his openness to hear ideas and horrified at the prospect of our fearless leader not having a strategic plan to dig ourselves out of the 24 foot hole of despair our athletic department finds itself in. I am 39 years old. My family has sat in the same seats at Aloha Stadium for 35 years. Great seats. 42 yard line, 12 rows from the field. We didn't renew them this year. Sick of Chow. Sick of his offense. Sick of his BS. Shame on the UH Athletic Department for feeding us this trash, and yes I call 8-29 over 3 seasons trash. Ability to only beat bottom of the barrel MWC and FCS opponents. Gonna go to a few select games (Colorado & Fresneck) and do PPV with my Father-in-law the rest of the time. Our athletic department is in deep doo-doo. But, Go Bows! I do enjoy having UH play football in the MWC.
  10. Our last AD just left because he couldn't fundraise for beans. Dude was dillusional. Had bowl revenue built into our operating budget last year. Crazy.
  11. Larry Ellison like boats, not the Bows. Culture is different here. People identify themselves by where they live and what high school they went to. Not the university. And especially not the University of Hawaii. Hawaii fans will support a winner. They will abandon ship on a loser. Chow's about a big a loser as they come. Cost of living here is astronomical. A new one or two bedroom apartment is going for $650K. No joke. You add in the added cost of food, groceries, gas, and going to see a crappy football team doesn't seem that important. Things are just different here. I believe that UH is subsidized around 40% at the cost of attendance. Many schools that number is up in the 70-80% range. UH does need help at the state level, but they also have to stop writing bad contracts, making bad hires, and wasting what money they do have coming in. Those things go hand in hand. Nobody wants to give you money if they see you pissing it away. Legislatures, donors, and sports fans, etc.
  12. UH could work with this. Doubt Boise would though.
  13. It's 2.3 million dollars a year. You can make an argument that that thing has outlived its usefulness. It severely cuts into the live gate and ticket sales. But that's a whole other can of worms. Aloha Stadium, parking, concession, signage, and the cost to clean that piece of trash up after the games. Bottom line is this. UH is working with a broken financial model. The expenses outweigh the revenue. UH wants help at the state level for subsidization but wants autonomy to control where that money goes. The state wants a say in how that money would be spent because quite honestly, UH has pissed millions away rather foolishly. Fake concerts, buying out crappy coaches and ADs, etc. Yet again, another can of worms. I wish UH would abolish the PPV contract with Oceanic Time Warner. But it would be wise to get better on the football field before doing so. It would reopen negotiations on travel subs with the MWC. We kept all of our PPV money and got a slice from the WAC while we were members.
  14. I do understand what Warbow is saying. An uneven revenue distribution system does not bode well for a strong and competitive conference. It's lopsided. Rewarding one school heavily (Boise State) while taking from another (Hawaii). But these are the conditions and rules both schools were able parlay, or reluctantly agreed to. We just got to make the best of it. Strong conference members that are competitive and financially viable benefit everyone. High tide raises all boats. Therein lies the rub. Hard to argue that Boise doesn't deserve more since they add more to the pot. But you have to at least sympathize with our school in the negative aspect the travel subs are having on our programs bottom line.
