A Funny Thing Happened At a Major Newspaper

Recommended Posts

Is the RJ considered a "major newspaper?"

I thought it was more "mouthpiece for Stephens Media political slants, boasting mostly selectively slanted AP stories with rare occasional 'breaking news' blurbs on fatal accidents and even more sparcely posted occasional news about a community of 2 million people."

For a metro area of around 2M, sadly, yes, it is. The alternative is the completely politicized Sun...

Both are completely politicized. To argue otherwise is to show bias. The RJ is no better, just residing on the other end of the political spectrum.

It's the sad state of the press in general.

RJ is much better than that toilet paper insert LV Sun. Why was it so important to "save" that leftist garbage , that thing should die long time ago on its own.

Both suck. Anyone who attempts to legitimize the RJ as a major media source is no better than one that saves leftist garbage.

The disturbing ones are those who see a difference between the Sun and the RJ. Both serve the same purpose for their masters and a community of 2 mil suffers for it.

Both are shills to political agendas. The fools are the ones who take either newspaper seriously over the other. Those are the ones labelled "easily duped" or wear a t shirt saying "I'm with stupid" with an arrow pointing up.

R-J's comments are far less, um, "moderated" and they more frequently cover news the Sun ignores.

But, in the long run, you're right about their complicity with Gaming Inc. and the Nevada political machine...

And the Sun covers news the RJ ignores. Both are shills. Carnival barkers for the left or right.

Carnival barkers for Gaming Inc. Divide and conquer... but, we digress.

What the article said was that Reno's basically scary. Gotta say, last time I was there, I've never seen so many fights in a major casino property. Over the course of a Friday and Saturday night, I saw at least half a dozen altercations. In LV, I'm lucky if I see one on multiple visits...

Back to bashing then... Reno should close their casinos. It could be decent without "Reno."

I wouldn't say it has a lot going for it, but it has some nice natural beauty a short distance away, and a sagebrushed failure in the casinos downtown. I never thought I'd see another place that made downtown Vegas look nice, but Reno's casino center managed.

Riverwalk is nice, Sparks is ok... Tahoe and Sierras are obviously epic.

It's a place full of blech to meh for me.
