Las Vegas Reb
Wow. UNR adds a dozen walk-on's? Also, looks like their attrition is pretty high even though RGJ tries to glide over it. http://www.rgj.com/story/sports/college/nevada/2014/07/22/thompson-mwcs-budget-gap-better-today/13026823/ Other players who are not returning for 2014 Defensive back Necho Beard Long-snapper Cody Block Receiver Dominic Coulter Tight end Randy Horton Defensive back Alex Mack Defensive back Soni Mailei Kicker Robert Otis Receiver Frank Schnicker Receiver Garrett White Also: Receiver Aaron Bradley Defensive back Bryson Keeton Linebacker Burton De Koning Offensive lineman Abel De Haro Offensive lineman Braxton Isaac Receiver Dominic Coulter Defensive end Beau Hershberger Linebacker Alec Moreno Running back Xavier Stephens Receiver/tight end Cody Tuttle Receiver Nigel Westbrooks Thats a lot of turnover no matter how you slice it. Polian must be cleaning house. Cannon is definitely staying RED. What color it the cannon?
mugtang
The biggest loss in Aaron Bradley. But beyond that I'm not concerned. And no the cannon is coming home. thelawlorfaithful, on 31 Dec 2012 - 04:01 AM, said:One of the rules I live by: never underestimate a man in a dandy looking sweater
Jeffkills
Why so many walk-on's? Nevada's using all its scholarships, correct? Werid...

The bottom hald left during spring camp... the top half left during the summer when attrition is highest for all programs. I notated the players who left but that were also walk-ons to give you some perspective. Nevada's scholarship attrition occured before and during Spring ball. RogueStout
I don't blame that Long-Snapper for leaving. I would try my luck elsewhere too if my team brought in a 1000 Star guy.
battle.borne
Tuttle and DeKoning were supposed to be the next big thing.. Agreed. Tuttle was an academic casualty while Burton left for FCS ball and more PT. Rebaholic
UNLV also has a ton of walk-ons on it's fall practice roster. I'd say it's right up there with UNR. Although most will eventually go on scholarship. Both of our programs pull in a lot of late additions that were not signed to LOIs during the recruiting period. Xavier Stevens is the kid that verballed to UNLV then changed to Reno at the last second. Some dope on Rebel-Net was claiming that he saw him tweet he was reneging on UNLV because of the mean message board posters. Of course the tweet never existed. NVPack17
Remember seeing Cody Tuttle's highlight film, he was supposed to be damn good. Oh well, best of luck to him. Rest except for Aaron Bradley won't hurt too much. Also, I noticed we have a walk-on from Truckee High, have we ever had someone from Truckee? But I can't remember one? It will be interesting to see if they can keep it rolling. The death of their HC was horrible last season.
bigd
Tuttle and DeKoning were supposed to be the next big thing.. I remember Tuttle's dad coming on our message board and saying that his goals are to get his grades up at a JC, then return to Nevada. Hopefully that's the case. mugtang
It is home. People go to Vegas to vacation not to live. GoldenEagleAztec
What is the SDSU method? Have you not been paying attention??? Having many walk-ons on the roster and actually giving them play time. e.i. Tim Vizzi, Dylan Denso, Quinn Kaehler just to name a few.

Tim Vizzi, Dylan Denso, Quinn Kaehler just to name a few. Gotcha. I think part of the issue at Nevada is that it's a new coach and those kids weren't recruited by Polian. If they don't play, they feel like it's because... they weren't recruited by the coach.
