Norm Chow should keep his job.

Recommended Posts

As long as Hawaii continues to show improvement this season, I believe that Norm Chow should keep his job. First, his team is remarkably better this year then they were the previous two. Secondly, when looking at their final six games, the three home games are winnable, as are the games at SJSU and at Fresno State. Finally, with Max Wittek as their QB next year, and Beau Reilly waiting in the wings, I think the Rainbows can make a serious run at a winning record and a Bowl Game next year.

Thoughts Rainbow fans?

Economics will dictate the "decision".  If x number of season tickets are cancelled an y number of donations dry up, then he has to go, whether he deserves another year or not doesn't really matter.

No....  Norm is old, has done nothing at Hawaii, and should retire.

Then Hawaii should go after a proven head coach, who will likely be very interested:  Bronco Mendenhall.

Bronco will bring Robert Anae (native son of Kahuku) along with him to run the Rich Rod offense.

Meh. He should retire.

Hawaii needs to hire Kalani Sitake.

I don't see Hawaii hiring another Utah Coordinator as its coach... Not after the Norm Chow, Utah to Hawaii, failed experiment.

Hawaii needs someone who is a proven head coach.

I agree. He seems to be turning things around.

Negative. His offense is getting worst with each year. Chow has nothing to do with the teams improvement. It's the defense that makes Hawaii looks better.

Hawaii would be better off firing Chow and retaining the defensive coordinator Kevin Clune. Clune is on a 2 year contract and can be retained. We need to go after Dino Babers and keep Clune.

You are correct. This is Chow's last year. The local media is starting to put the pressure on the AD.

UH football not just losing players, but paying fans too

Through four of seven scheduled home games, the Rainbow Warriors have attracted an average of 25,263 through the Aloha Stadium turnstiles. That's a per game drop of 2,096 from last year and nearly a 9,000 plunge from four years ago.

Not since 1998, when UH averaged 24,763 through four games, has attendance dipped as low at the same point.

Attendance at the last home game, Wyoming, was 20,405, the smallest for a UH home game at Aloha Stadium since the Northwestern game of 1998, the penultimate contest of that cursed season.

The result is that with three home games left, the $3,865,000 in ticket revenue the athletic program had projected figures to fall well short of the target

That pretty much says it all in regards to Chow's future in Hawaii.

would Hawaii take June Jones back?

June Jones is already 62 years old...

Dude is too old to get Hawaii turned around, and probably needs to retire as well.

June Jones has burned out. He's more interested in women volleyball players.

Why would Bronco want the Hawaii job?

The situation with Bronco is the following:

(1) Bronco has himself stated that he is "not a long term guy at one place" kind of coach.  He is not Lavell Edwards.  He's already been at BYU 10 years, now.

(2) Bronco's wife has said she also really enjoys moving around, and experiencing new places, and wouldn't mind moving away from Utah in the future.

(3) BYU fans have grown a bit tired of Bronco.  8 and 9 win seasons aren't good enough for us.  Bronco looks like he is growing tired of the BYU fan pressure, and their expectation of perfect seasons.

(4) Bronco has said he prefers to coach at really unique schools.   Hawaii is one such really unique school.

(5) Bronco loves surfing....loves Hawaii....loves shaved iced....loves kalua pig.

(6) Bronco has an already established recruiting network in Hawaii and the mainland for Polynesian recruits---he knows he can succeed at Hawaii.

SO.... if Bronco wants to leave BYU, then Hawaii is about perfect for him.  The only place better for him is AFA, but they seem happy with their coach.

Bronco = Rocky Long.  He will get you about 7-9 wins every season, and bowl game.

We're tired of getting BYU leftovers. That's what put us in the hole in the first place. No thanks...

That's understandable.... but I don't know if you'll have any better option.  Not with Hawaii's poor budget.  The Bowling Green coach I think can get a better job than Hawaii after this season.

Bronco would bring some Laie Boyzz along with him as assistants.  (Robert Anae (OC) and Mark Atuaia (RB)),

Think you guys might go after Rolo as a head coach?
