  1. Bingo. These massive budgets and tv contracts are only sustainable if you continually grow the audience. Alienating, marginalizing, and rendering to irrelevance 30% (or whatever) of the viewers and their schools west of Texas is a great way to bring the gravy train to a crashing halt. And if you’re going to start paying players, why pretend they need to be students? Just make them contracted professionals and call it AAA football sponsored by the school. “The Alabama Smashers sponsored by The University of Alabama!” Except, of course, there’s a reason why you don’t see 60,000 seat AAA stadiums. Because, like you said, nobody wants minor league football…which is exactly where they’re taking it. They’re just too greedy to see it.
  2. Good for Boise, guy is a stud. But panning out a bit, just another dagger in G5 football. This arms race for most (not all, but most) G5 public schools is not sustainable. It’s getting to a rapid point where I’m starting to hope there is a schism and the “big boys” (whatever) break away and form their own AAA league and the former G5 form something akin to FCS+. Basically, the old NCAA type rules: no portal, no NIL, compact regional conferences, kids who want to play for a school because they love the school/staff/city etc. I’d be perfectly ok with a reduced level of play if it meant there was true parity (so to speak) across member schools and conferences. I don’t watch college ball because they’re the best. If I want the best professionals, I’ll watch the NFL. I watch college ball (Fresno State) because it’s my alma mater, I grew up in the valley, and there’s a lot of memories and cultural ties…not because they have a behemoth budget and NIL collective. Everything is getting really gross. It’s a shame.
  3. You did. But SDSU being SDSU, they “ran” with it instead. (har har)
  4. The MWC really, really, REALLY wants to hand this to AFA. The officiating has been an abomination.
  5. Congrats. SJSU earned it and it wasn’t even close. You guys played well. Fresno **** the bed. Enjoy the trophy. Look forward to getting it back when you come to Fresno next year
  6. Eh. It happens. San Jo the better team tonight. Fresno didn’t show up. Congrats Spartans. Fresno needs to win out and scoreboard watch.
  7. Fresno keeps winning close (and lost one close). Oddsmakers clearly see no reason that will change this year. Also, fan smack talk aside, serious Fresno fans know SJSU had a rough schedule to start and lately has been on fire and better than their record indicates. They know the ‘Dogs will be in a highly competitive game. This is a crucial game for Fresno…and Fresno fans are hoping to avoid another 2013 (gag). If they get past this one, their odds of making championship game are sky high (sorry UNM and SDSU).
  8. No idea what the USU coach’s fascination is with Hillstead. The QB (Legas?) who played against Fresno could actually move USU down the field repeatedly, unlike Hillstead (who I’m assuming is engaged to the HCs daughter or something). I don’t get it.
  9. Dude, I was afraid that Royals was going to take it to the house every time he touched it. Made this Fresno fan nervous until the clock struck zero. I thought USU played really well against Fresno and that game was up for grabs. You have a lot of speed with your offensive skill players. I was really impressed. It’s a shame that they’re not being utilized to their fullest potential. You guys just didn’t look as dynamic against SJSU with Hillstead at QB. I understand he may be the future, but I think Legas gets you more wins right now. Anyways, good luck rest of season!
  10. Why didn’t USU start Legas? He really had the USU offense moving against Fresno. The frosh doesn’t look nearly as effective in letting the USU stud receivers shine. Legas had some turnovers, but he also seemed a lot more effective in getting them the ball down field and in space. With the freshman at QB, the USU offense doesn’t look nearly as functional.
  11. Qualcomm, Carson (SDSU v Fresno 2021), Rose Bowl, LA Coliseum, Valley Children’s Hospital Stadium (Bulldog Stadium), San Jose Spartan Stadium, UNR (Wolfpack) Stadium, Washington Husky Stadium, Cowboy Stadium (Laramie), Candlestick Park (Fresno v Cal 2011) and AFA Falcon Stadium.
  12. First half killed Fresno. Wyoming the better team last night. They earned it. Fresno O-line has been a disaster waiting to happen. Finally caught up to them. If it doesn’t get better (unlikely) real quick Fresno will drop another one or two games in conference. Wyoming, OTOH, if they can get past AFA, has a shot at running the table and…who knows? NY6? Anyways, congrats Pokes.
  13. All those tech gazillionaires like to call themselves “libertarians” which is code for right winger who likes to smoke weed and have easy access to abortion for their mistresses.
