  1. Yeah, I remember in history class that "states' rights" lead to a bunch of states not only seceding, but doing so because they wanted to keep slaves as per their "states' rights". 100 years later, Eisenhower had to send in troops to Arkansas just to make sure kids could go to a school that was nearby, "infringing on states' rights".
  2. Yep, Connie boy just had to bring politics into this, when nothing of politics had anything to do with the thread to begin with. It is his only fallback anymore.
  3. Spoke to soon. Convict showed up again, giving his "expert" opinions.
  4. Well, at least Convict's posts were limited here. Yeah, 20 years ago, I was in my early teens. I had watched pro-wrestling with my grandad and my mom when we visited him, and when I could, at home. Are the stories silly or over the top? Yeah, that's part of the charm. But before putting these guys down, look what they have done in the ring. You have high flying luchadore wrestlers, that perform incredible acrobatics. You have technical wrestlers that have an answer for nearly every move thrown their way. You have powerhouses that pick up and throw around 200lb up to well over 400lbs wrestlers all over the ring. Then there's the dare devils that have risked life and limb. From Mankind's now legendary toss from the top of a steel cage through the announcer's table 30ft below, to the TLC matches between the Hardyz, Dudleys, and Christian and Edge. To say nothing of the matches since. Clips are easy to find on youtube. Call it a guilty pleasure, call it coping, whatever. This is a board filled with 30+ on up to far more elderly, yelling at kids barely out of high school to somehow carry the hopes of their schools throughout the season. Is pro-wrestling scripted? Yes. But never doubt their athleticism, their passion to put on a good show, and their want to please the crowd as best as possible.
  5. I didn't catch that part, but wow. That is incredible on Triple H's and everyone on that end's part.
  6. So, 20 years ago, I checked out of pro-wrestling. I had been a WCW kid enjoying what was on, blissfully unaware there was the "Monday Night War" between them and WWF. We know WWF/WWE won. A number of WCW talents tried out for the WWE, only for everyone, particularly the big names of WCW, to be buried. Which by 2004, was every WCW big name that tried WWE. Some went on to TNA, some to Japan, others simply hung up their boots for good. So, I stopped watching. Even Sting, one of the all time greats, going to WWE, didn't grab my attention much. And considering Vince's pettiness about WCW/non-WWE made stars, well, lets just say Sting's career nearly ended a decade sooner, under awful conditions. AEW, thankfully, had Sting go out on the best note possible not long ago. And earlier tonight, the son of a wrestling legend got me firmly back into WWE. Cody Rhodes, youngest son of Dusty "The American Dream" Rhodes, beat Roman Reigns, whom is not only cousin to The Rock Dwayne Johnson, but held the Universal WWE Title for 3 1/2 years. I remember some of Dusty's later matches as a kid when he was in WCW. Not only that, the match itself was a beautiful mess, making it one of the best of all time. And let me say, without Vince looking over everyone's shoulders, this has been the best even in a long time.
  7. I'd hold off on Starfield. Maybe forever. I've played a bit on Xbox Gamepass, and its just a space Fallout 4/76. And I'm far from the only one to have that view. In fact, better off playing Fallout 4 of New Vegas than Starfield. New Vegas may need a mod to keep it stable, but its a simple install, and worth it for one of, if not the best Fallout Game.
  8. So, another Convert bait threat that erupted on his face... I know what I wrote. This time showing his homophobia/bigotry towards non-cis/hetero people. What's more, while bisexuals do swing both ways, its not uncommon for them to have a preferred gender they like. Like many bisexual women may prefer dating men, but will date a woman instead if that woman is attractive to them. I think saying it also goes the other way, and the same deal for bi men.
  9. He was the artist for the whole series. Chrono Trigger as well.
  10. We are so proud of you, Convert. Such a grown up boy you are! Now, why don't you go to the Taylor Swift thread and post there. Because this thread, is about Akira Toriyama. Remember your ABCs? Those will help you learn the difference between Taylor Swift and Akira Toriyama in spelling. Now, run along and play with your little friends! And tell your mom to expect plenty of company tonight!
  11. LOL No kidding. First couple of episodes would be campaigned against, HARD, by both sides. But, that was humor back in the 1980s for you. But, yeah. It seems his son has taken over the direction of the Dragon Ball franchise now, with the manga remaining under Toyotaro.
  12. While Yu Yu Hakusho is a great series in its own right, Toriyama didn't work on it. Dr. Slump (his original big hit series, in Japan), yes. Dragon Ball though, yeah. I'll be honest, I did not expect to see this on the MWCBoard. Most on here simply are not into anime/manga. For me though, Dragon Ball Z was, and is, one of my favorite series to this day. Is it perfect? By all means, no. Wonky animation and such did plague it from time to time. And the English dub had some, "interesting" tones not in the original works (the "Superman" Goku). But yet, this series has touched literally millions of people worldwide with a simple, but inspiring, message; never give up. For those that are curious, check out the original anime series, Dragon Ball, and the. DBZ Kai (for better lines, and less filler). If you are still into it at that point, Dragon Ball Super came out and has continued the story, in animated film, series, and manga format. But yeah. Dragon Ball paved the way for anime to come to the rest of the world. And inspired future manga creators of One Piece and Naruto, and several more big name series. This is not a small deal, by any means. BBC, NBC, Time, and AP News are all running articles on this. To say nothing of the youtubers and streamers as well. And the way Goku operates as a character, I would not be surprised if many student athletes have been inspired by him to keep getting better.
  13. Darby Allen has apparently said he's now going to climb Mt. Everest and on a long break (heal up first, man!). Sting, no more match time (obviously), but it seems Tony Kahn is talking to him about staying in another capacity.
  14. Scripted, would be a better term. The outcomes are, at least. But the physicality, punishment the athletes put themselves through, and injuries they get, are very real. One of the most famous matches, where Mankind Mick Foley and Undertaker fought in Hell in a Cell, Mick told Undertaker, as they were on top of the 30 foot cage, to throw him off. And he did. The video is easy to find. Mick survived, one of the most respected wrestlers there is, and put his body through hell throughout his career. The match had Undertaker winning, but in those days, in WWF (at the time) most matches were done on the fly rather than go over the match before hand (WCW did the latter, and when WWF became WWE, and a while after the two "merged", began doing this as well).
