Boise State's 2008 football game with Oregon moved to Sept. 20

Statesman staff - Idaho Statesman

Edition Date: 12/13/07

Boise State's 2008 football game at Oregon has been moved again. The game will now be played on Saturday, Sept. 20, ESPN and the Pac-10 Conference announced Wednesday. Boise State agreed to the move.

The Oregon game was originally scheduled as the season opener and then moved to Sept. 13.

Because of the change in dates, Boise State will move its road game against Southern Miss from its current date of Saturday, Sept. 27 to avoid playing back-to-back road games, the school announced Wednesday. The date of that game has yet to be determined.

The Broncos will open their 2008 season at home on Saturday, Aug. 30 against Idaho State. Boise State will also host Bowling Green on Saturday, Oct. 4.

The Broncos' 2008 WAC schedule will not be announced until late February or early March.

Why are you so sensitive to the truth being posted anywhere??...........

It's nothing new..... It's just publicly transparent now.....Boise will only schedule a OOC game unless they feel they have at least a very good chance of a win....

Obviously... Team Boise won't take the chance of playing S. Miss after traveling to a OOC game 350 miles away.....

I disagree. This makes great fuel for the flame.

Thanks Raisin!!!!

The donkeys are cowards and this proves it. They're going to get crushed in Eugene anyhow so I don't think it matters too much either way.

Hawaii played back to back road games against La Tech and UNLV and it almost cost us a BCS bowl bid by barely winning at La Tech.

You just summed up Hawaii's 2007 season in one sentence, and they ended up in the Sugar Bowl. College football is so awesome!

I don't know NorCal, Oregon has looked pretty bad since Dixon was hurt. Since he is gone this year (I think), I'm not sure who they have to replace him. Either way, backing out of this game does make them look cowardly.

427 miles away. Sounds like smart scheduling to me. Why schedule a game if you dont feel you have a good chance to win? You're lame.

In all fairness, you aren't traveling to Tenn, Florida, etc. This is Southern Miss (7-5 this season) with a new coach; not exactly a body bag game. bsu doesn't think they have a good chance to beat Southern Miss???

It was already scheduled???? Team Boise must have looked at their OL & QB situation for 08... started quacking about the prospects of playing S. Miss in Miss... so far away....

Well, we slaped them around this year and return more starters then we did in 2006 so I would say the team is confident. But why play back to back OOC road games if you dont have to?

I agree wholeheartedly with you but the beauty of it is this game is for next season and they should find at least an adequate solution (not optimal) for QB by then. Oregon the past two years has come out burning hot in the beginning of the season and faded in the latter part. I expect that trend to continue next year and don't give Boise St much of a chance on the road early on. Hell, they couldn't even handle the PAC10 cellar dwellar in Washington on the road this season and they lose their entire OL practically.

The Truth........ It has been cancelled on the date it was originally scheduled because of not wanting to play back-to-back OOC road games....

More Truth... tell us what happened the last time Team Boise traveled to the Deep South....

Team Boise is confident in both the O-line and the QB situation. Those two positions have been strengths for the team the last 10 years and team Boise has alot of depth and talent at those positions and they are all well coached. You're lame.

He is a fresno tool, I mean fan, who is doesn't like BSU for the constnat butt whoopins we hand out to them.

I see Boiseheads can't handle the simple truth...... Their team cancelled out of fear of traveling across the country & losing to S. Miss.....................

Simple Truth... backed up by the ID press statement
