OT: Grand Canyon University looking to move back to non-profit status

With their financial problems behind them and growing enrollment on their phyiscal campus, they wanting to get back to a traditional non-profit university.

Currently, they are in the second year of D1 transition in the WAC.  If they can make good progress in the next 10 years, the MW can fill the geographic hole in AZ with GCU.  They are looking to start up football also.

Guest #1Stunner

Arizona and Arizona State feel really threatened by Grand Canyon, and tried to get the PAC12 to put a scheduling ban on them.

Aren't almost all of their students enrolled online?

JDGaucho is a huge fan of theirs.

They have a decent sized campus in Phoenix. Not sure of on campus enrollment though

The ability to enroll in all online courses would have great appeal to me if I was a student athlete.

Well....yeah. I'm sure it appeals to a lot of people that don't want to go to class or participate in school in general. Just use that stipend money to pay for grades.

In the end it just doesn't matter because my university will get whatever it wants and be on the inside on any incarnation of whatever conference it chooses and whatever incarnation of the NCAA or BCS that arises. Our ego only got bigger with the Pac-10, SEC and Big 10 trying to get us to join their conference.

Look, why don't you just be quiet before my university buys yours and closes it just for spite?

I'm a fan of the BW adding Grand Canyon.  Direct flight for Hawaii, the SoCal schools can bus to Phoenix, member #10.  All nicey nice

It is one long ass hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, trust me on this, I've done it.

And once you get there the last thing you will want to do is play a football game.

If you didn't weigh too much for a burro, they would have let you ride down.
