  1. Tough break. Hopefully USU finds another solid coach and rebuilds again quickly. Unfortunately there is going to be another exodus.
  2. I’ll take the bet on keeping under 15…only because this UCONN team is also not as good as last year’s juggernaught….Adama Sonogo was an absolute beast in the tourney and Jordan Hawkins was also an exceptional player…both now in the NBA… and it is nothing new to underestimate SDSU and what they can do defensively to frustrate teams even without a rim protector like Mensah who didn’t bring much offensively. One key component of last years’ tourney run was the emergence of Keshad Johnson defensively….he was not nearly as impactful defensively for 4 years as he was in the tourney and now at U of A. I’m starting to see a bit of that with Saunders as another big body who is also a better shooter…Matt Bradley also had a miserable tournament offensively last year and his replacement Dixon-Waters hasn’t been much better. Obviously LeDee is a force now and the team is built around him. If they play loose enough in a hostile environment and Parrish, Waters, Butler, Trammell are all hitting shots, I would definitely give the Aztecs. Punchers chance.
  3. Yale won’t foul recklessly like UAB. More disciplined squad. Have to beat them on the boards and D our best on the perimeter.
  4. …and down goes Auburn. Overrated defense and not ready for the moment. See SEC teams last year.
  5. Looks like they need to worry about Yale first.
  6. I was worried about the adjustment to officiating and high pressure tournament environment. We have too many teams that are used to getting soft foul calls and being able to bait teams with flops…not to mention lapses on defense. The experience definitely helps SDSU…and also the fact that they get rattled less than pretty much anyone when they are down (tip of the hat to coaching) and are always game for a hard grinding dogfight that many of these turn into.
  7. LeDee is pretty amazing. He arguably gets hacked more than any player in the nation and thankfully I think the refs are in tune to that. UAB sent the goon squad in but it didn’t work. We play big boy physical basketballl and hard D. This aint the MWC where refs are so easily baited by the flops (ahem…USU please learn a lesson from UNM and don’t try to rely on the soft fouls that MWC refs so willingly give)
