MWC Shootaround Basketball preview on espn.com

Andy Katz from ESPN amazes me. On the left hand side in a column of this article there is a box that says "if I were the Mountain West commish... It is hilarious.

"The television package has to change. Going exclusively with CSTV has limited the national reach of the conference. Scheduling is also an issue, too. Not all of the member schools can afford guaranteed home nonconference games. The MWC didn't want to get involved in the annual BracketBuster event, but the beauty of it is guaranteed home-and-home games. The MWC is caught in a middle ground, believing it is better than other so called mid-major conferences. But some of the MWC schools struggle to get quality home games. Scheduling alliances with other conferences would help."

If that's not ESPN propaganda what is?

ESPN was lazy in the research on CSU. CSU has two transfers that sat out last year that will be in the starting lineup this year - Andy Ogide from Ole Miss and Dale Vanvervieren from Purdue. And to not mention that CSU has both Minnesota and Stanford coming to Fort Collins this season is an ignorant way for Katz to support his argument that MWC teams can't get strong OOC opponents. CSU also has Nevada on the home schedule.

ESPN pulled the same +++++++ with the following conferences:

PAC-10 - The coaches truly do complain about FSN's coverage, but they do get games on ABC & CBS and sublicensed a couple basketball games to ESPN last year to shut Lute Olson up.

A-10 - Another conference who splits its contract between CBS CS, ESPN and their syndication deal

Horizon League - Funny, but that one is actually with ESPN, so they are doing a +++++ job all on their own.

MVC - Again funny, because ESPN is the one handling the majority of their deal. The regional game on FSN Midwest is really easy to find, Andy just lost his remote.
